I'll stand up for this....I've owned two, still have one. I regret selling my 2005 VSB but managed to find a NOS 2011 just this past year. They're both great players but my 2005 had a Nordy and a better preamp.

My 2005 sold to @Hotblack last year:

Bardolphus, loving that Blueburst 1988, very low serial number, must be one of the first! Great figuring, too!

And, as you say, never strip the finish off that neck!

I just Scotch-brite the necks of my classics and the SUB. Gives them a very nice satin feel. I do need to redo it every few months as they begin glossing up with use.

I have to do this with the basses I play that we’re made by that, other company.

I’m a huge SR5 fan. Bought and sold several here on TB. In fact, two of these (30th and blue dawn) are for sale right now. I once had, and sold here on TB, a beautiful one of a kind HS SR5 in Lucky Gold that had an awesome clear coated flamed maple neck. And I once had an all rosewood necked HH that I sold on TB as well.
