Sounds correct, i now noticed that the saddles on the bridge looks different.
Neck through Ray5 owners; your setups, neck adjustments work out ok? Any issues?
I do light setup and neck adjustments myself but when I take it to a local guy for bigger issues, he generally shims my bolt on necks, so just wondering what your all’s experience has been.

Never needed a shim for any of my basses. My only neck through basses are Rics and they set up just fine.
My neck-through SR5 was pretty much perfect right from the factory. I probably had to re-intonate it after switching from the factory roundwound strings to T-I Jazz Flats, but that's probably all I've needed to do.
My MusicMans are BO, and maybe I should shim the SR5 from 2004. My Warwicks are all neck through and they can't shim
I started playing bass with a Stingray 5 in 1991 and as of today I have one again, this time a fretless from 1998 with ceramics. It really feels like coming home. There aren't many fives where the spacing is perfect, but the SR5 is one of the few, it just suits me perfectly. My first one was a 1990 which would have been AlNiCos, so this is a slight change, but all the same vibe is there, almost to the letter. The three-way switch that I thought was useless on a fretted (parallel was the only tone I ever liked) is really useful on a fretless. Nice to come back to my roots.
Hey y’all, what strings do you run on your SR5? I got my bass with what I believe are DR fat beams. TBer I bought it from said they are 45-125 but they feel real light, lighter than 45 to 125, in a way I enjoy. I also don’t want to put anything too heavy or tense on this neck, should I go lighter? What do y’all like to use? Any advice?

About 18 months ago, I started using DR Pure Blues on every bass that didn't have Dunlop flats. I've never enjoyed a round wound string so much. I also went from 45-105 to 40-95 and my hands no longer tense up and my old carpal tunnel never bugs me anymore. It requires a slight adjustment to how hard you play, but I find I'm getting deeper fundamentals, and the bass sounds 5% bigger than with the thicker gauge of strings.

T-I Jazz Flats. Nothing else will ever go on my SR5.
I prefer a pretty stiff feeling string, so you probably wouldn't be interested in what I like. However, I find GHS Pressurewounds to be about as flexible and loose feeling as I'd want to go but they might work for you. I find them to be a pretty warm string, which I like, and they last a long time. I've also used Cobalt Slinkys, which I thought sounded pretty good, though brighter than I prefer. But I thought they were too flexible feeling for me and never went back to them.
If you like flats, TI Jazz flats seem to get great reviews from people here, although I'm not crazy about their sound and they're way too flexible feeling for me. I've been tempted to try Cobalt Flats a few times, but people I've asked have waved me off because they would probably be too flexible feeling for my tastes.
I'd also suggest DR Sunbeams. I thought they sounded a lot like DR nickel Lo Riders (my favorite strings overall), but they have a noticeably looser feel that I don't like.
So those suggestions are strings I wouldn't use, but they might suit you better, at least based on their feel.

Has anyone ever put a 2-band preamp in a SR5? There is something special about the 2-band that I'm missing (slightly) in the SR5. I've heard the Mojotone preamp and I find it identical sounding... just wondered how the 5 string reacts to it. There aren't enough Classic 5s in the world for me to ever have heard one.

I’ve wondered about that, when I read posts here by people saying they prefer the 2 band EQ over 3, whether it’s as simple as Tony’s solution to getting the 2 band sound from a 3 band, e.g., just roll off the mids.
Glad to know about this. I love the comment about never wanting the midrange on a record.
