so now that these arent popping up on ebay anymore, anyone here willing to build one to sell me? ive got a passive sub 5 that id love to make active. all this talk of resistors and op-amps is way being my scope of electronics handyness

i've made a few of unclefluffy's 2 band pre's and they are great. made this one for my lightweight stingray using NOS CTS pots, and with solderless connectors which also has a 3 way split/parallel/series switch. the small trim pot mounted on the bass control is to balance the output when in the series mode, since it's alot hotter when it's in series.

i'm waiting for someone to make some reasonably priced CNC'd, or cast lightweight chromed stingray dome knobs (or p bass barrel knobs) instead of the brass ones that everyone makes today. there is one guy that makes aluminum ones that look pretty nice, but they aren't chrome plated and he wants $34 a pair.
the vintage fender p bass knobs from the 60's-70's were lightweight and very nice. unfortunately they sell for over $100(pr) nowadays.

Talk to me about that in about 3 months. There's a lathe on the way for Xmas and it'll take me some time to put together a CNC controller for it.
Alternatively, try emachineshop.com. I've had a few things made through them and they're pretty good. Not sure about current pricing. One warning - make sure you specify cleanup processes, else you'll get a lot of machining marks on the piece.
Quick heads up - it looks like the last two boards from that batch have been claimed.
I can do another run if there's enough interest, but the minimum size would be 50 boards so that would have to be a fair amount of interest

I just finished building one of these from Fluffy's board. Worked first time I fired it up! I built it with mostly stuff I had laying around. I mocked it up on a OLP. Now I have the correct pots on order, and then a little wood work and it will be done. Thanks to Fluffy for this one!

here's another one of fluffy's boards that i built up using NOS USA pots, mounted on a new MM stingray control plate. on this one, i used the can type electrolytics instead of tantalums, ceramics instead of silver micas, and a mylar .047uf instead of a ceramic since that's what EB uses in their new 'classic' rays.
OK, there's been a couple of PMs, so I *will* be doing a second run. I'll probably send it off just before I leave for the Xmas holiday so there will be another pile available starting mid-January.

To make planning a little easier, could I ask anyone who might be interested in more than 1-2 boards this time around to drop me a PM with a note saying how many they're looking for. This isn't a firm commitment or anything, just something to help me figure out how many to order.
This is one of the preamps I put in a box. added a switch to select a 100K or 220K input resistor. added a bright switch for piccolo bass and guitar that selects a 1nF, 2.2nF, or 4.7nF cap which is in parallel with the input resistor.
Using an LT opamp and bumped the voltage up to 18V. sounds great!
