The Sunn 200S, which last time I heard one in person, was a sonic punch in the chest. Too bad fedex wants $1200 to ship it over! Lucky I know a shipping broker who could possibly score me a sweet deal.

If you're referring to my Orange, I have an OBC410 which is pretty great - really mid heavy and warm, but the dollars-for-volume ratio is a bit heavy on the dollars side.

Hmmm,I did appreciate the tone Steve Kille from Dead Meadow was pumping out when I saw them a few months ago.Just a rick into an orange,set for nothing but growly bassiness.
I went to a gig last night,local favourites Matt Sonic and the High Times playing Blues For The Red Sun start to finish,to celebrate the 20th anniversary of its release.God dam that was a good show.I don't know what kind of gypsies built Matt Sonics fuzz pedal,but it sounded amazing.I'm pretty vague on what happened in the last half of the set though-too much 'beer'.
Also just got the ric back from the tech,and she is flawless!
I've been practising as much as I can for a uni entry,and it's really paying off in my playing.Started writing with jazz chords and what not,and I'm finally able to speak somewhat casually whilst maintaining what I am playing.
all these TB'ers having to get approval from the misses to buy gear makes me glad I only have to justify gear buying to myself!

I run a Rick 4001, and I saw Dead Meadow recently too - he was running an AD200B into two OBC410s and it sounded godly. Pretty sure he uses no effects at all. The horn is a bitch on my old UK made cab, though - you can't turn it off unless you physically go into the cab itself and disconnect it.

Yeah,Id didn't see much going on in terms of effects.Just makes the gas for a orange even stronger!
Have you ever thought of using a forwarding service?
It allows to trawl through ebay and buy things that say 'will only ship inside the U.S',then it gets sent to a depot where they just forward it on to you.Saves a heap of money.

Demon has good luck with the orange and a Ric. But every time I have played a ad200 it was dark, muddy, and I felt the range of EQ was limited. Granted I think it's a fender tone stack, but the freq's chosen by fender are a little more user friendly (I guess, that's the phrase I'll use). Maybe the Ric was the key. Maybe the under wound pickups and the clangy Ric tone was what the orange likes.

Honestly I hear awesome tone coming from small time bands all the time. Guy from Neon Warship's tone was massive. He used a pick on a stingray into a mesa 400+ and a mesa 215. He played lots of notes on the high strings and every note had this super cut through massive low end quality to it.

I wouldn't recommend a V4, they might be "loud enough" but it's going to be mush in the low end once you get it in line with a heavy handed drummer and two guitar rigs. Not to mention the later ones aren't really as good big sounding as the earlier NMV versions. Then there's the whole 7027s which I think there's only 2 companies that make real ones any more, and that's an improvement over the 0 that made them a few years ago. And as Mike said, they break, all the time, especially if you're running them hard.

Unless of course the Dually is rated around 109 dB sensitivity :D

Yeah Laz. It would defeat the purpose of all the glorious fuzz that you are hording.

Speaking of deals, I saw a GC issued acoustic rig with 600 watt head and 8-10" for $500. I told my wife about it just because I thought it was a good deal and she's like, you don't have $500 right now. :(

Anyone try out the new acoustic stuff? Is it as bad as it looks? (it looks pretty cheap, like behr***** cheap)

Be careful. That's 600 watts at 2 ohms. I owned the 200 watt head for a hot minute and was seriously impressed. It's designed by Kustom for GC.

Gotta agree with this one. Saw them open for Dredg in Santa Cruz 3 years ago. On the first note of the first song, EVERYONE in the crowd seemed to take one step back. I was up in the balcony, and it looked like it was rehearsed.

I also saw Kyuss open for Faith No More at UC Davis in 1993. Reeders tone still haunts me, and I had never heard of Kyuss before that show.

It's a passive tone stack.Cut only. I have the treble and mids dimed, with the bass rolled back to 3:00.

I run on input 1 and dimed it wasn't mushy. The beginning of the song I drunkenly posted last night is my v4b rig maxed out the I pushed the front end when the song kicks in with the grey stache and it got louder but still pretty focused.
