I have tried the YBA-300 and it is a very good sounding amp. Loud and clean with a thoughtful EQ. Any amp that's loud enough should work. It really depends on the sound you want. As far as cabs there are a lot of options. In my opinion it's the most important piece of gear, unless you use a DI instead of micing at shows. Try as many as possible but if you give us some ideas as to what you want to achieve and budget I'm sure people will give you lots of suggestion to start your quest.



Laz, look at the pro-ject debut III turntable. Good quality and not too expensive if you find it used.

Just played a few amps with mr. oldcrow. The Bassman 300 was killer but the break out star was the Streamliner 600. I wanted to compare it to the VR they had but it wasn't working. I was impressed and am now having an internal struggle over it. I'm not necessarily against micros. I just wish the case design was more traditional.

Thoughts?

Alright thanks! as for Cab goes I would like something that can variate from cooperating really well with the fuzz, and yet have a fat clean tone. I was thinking a marshall VBC412 or an Orange OBC410. If you know a Scott Reeder "alike clean" and an Electric wizard (a la "return trip") fuzz. I know it seems like a quite high demand, but i just need something that can variate from good fat stoner riffs to loud, fuzzy Doom riffage. But i am going for the Traynor now :)

Well went to that yard sale. It was actually a VT22 not a V4. Same thing I guess. It was the one where channel one is just volume and distortion. Had sovtek 7027s. Also had a bad hum and likely needs a recap. He wanted $400 out the door which I wasn't interested in given the hum. He's friends with a local shop so he's going to have them check it out. I'll likely pass.

Jeff if you like the STM you should also try out the 7 Pro. They seem to be the current Class D kings for any loud rock music.

Went to the Young Widows, Coliseum show last night. One of the opening bands was Child Bite from Detroit. Never heard of them before but they kicked ass & their bass player was an absolute monster. Young Widows played 5 songs that I'm guessing will be on the next album. When I saw them a few months ago they were playing 2 of them. They were a lot better this time around & the new jams were killer. Coliseum was pretty rad too.

I really like both those bands. Young Widows is the **** though. I remember when they were Breather Resist and touring with Converge
