Stoner / Doom Bassist Thread - Part 18

The Sunn 200S, which last time I heard one in person, was a sonic punch in the chest. Too bad fedex wants $1200 to ship it over! Lucky I know a shipping broker who could possibly score me a sweet deal.

If you're referring to my Orange, I have an OBC410 which is pretty great - really mid heavy and warm, but the dollars-for-volume ratio is a bit heavy on the dollars side.

Nah, was referring to the Sunn. Mine is a 2000S. Those old cabs are great.

$1200 to ship, though... pretty hefty. Hope you can score that deal with the shipping broker.

Went to the Young Widows, Coliseum show last night. One of the opening bands was Child Bite from Detroit. Never heard of them before but they kicked ass & their bass player was an absolute monster. Young Widows played 5 songs that I'm guessing will be on the next album. When I saw them a few months ago they were playing 2 of them. They were a lot better this time around & the new jams were killer. Coliseum was pretty rad too.

I saw that show Thursday in my city. No openers. It was a great show. Both bands sounded awesome. Young widows guitar player dude had two verellen heads. A loucks and a smaller custom looking deal. Bass player was playing two svts. Big pedal board, noticed a rat tail on there. Both played through emperor cabs that were half speakers, half lights.

That sounds awesome. I`m bummed that I couldn`t make it to the show.

bam, $260 for shipping from shipito - just have to get it from JohnK's place to the depot! and I also have to organise it before a guy from Toronto gets it from under me.

can anyone in CA help a brother out? I can paypal you, haha.

I went with one of my band mates and saw Wino play an acoustic set, early this afternoon. Sounded good, though I would rather hear Vitus or The Obsessed if I'm being honest. Got to meet him and hang out with him for a bit, he's definitely a cool friendly guy.

Got the Megalith finally :bassist: The GAS for fuzz boxes is about to expire, only few pedals on the list.

That 1st act Delgada is really making me gas. It looks B.A. I kinda want it for the irony of it. I'm a little worried that the taper on the neck might feel odd. Does anybody have any experience with a similar neck? I like the feel of Jazz necks and currently play a EBMM Big Al. Which also has me gassing for a Sterling even though I'm a passive, neck pickup, tone rolled off kinda guy.

Jazz neck? Why not one of those Cataldo Fenderbirds? I was GASing hard for one of those.

I know that of about 40 TBers, 3 have had issues. JohnK being the best/worst example of one of the bad ones. But when they first came out, $500 sounded real nice. And there are about 37 TBers that are mega happy with theirs. There is some risk there, but Carlo is a TB member which gives him incentive to do a good job on all of the basses.
