Cool find, I bought one of those Alesis drum deals, too complicated, that got sold, those bush buttoms remind of the old cable boxes lol. So is the cable just for show do you just make the drum sounds by manually making the clicks by pushing the buttons :hyper:

I took a break from working on music projects this weekend. Since I feel like I'm always working on things and never really getting much finished. I figured I would start doing some arts and crafts stuff, so I can exercise my creativity and have a tangible finished product at the end. I'm hoping it will increase my motivation and boost my self confidence in getting stuff done on my own. Then when I go back to working on music projects, I'll be a little more focused instead of just always doing bits and pieces all the time and not start to finish projects.

So I decided to make an aged leather looking book cover, over an existing hardcover book. Kind of a static prop, it's still filled with some random novel I bought at the Dollar Tree. Ultimately I'd like to actually bind a blank book and have a full elaborate design. This was pretty much just an excuse to learn a lot of different techniques. I'm not finished yet, but I've got the main part mostly done.

Started with this:

As of this morning I have this:

I still need to put a matte seal on it. I was thinking of adding a gold leaf title to the front, aging the edges of the pages and distressing the outside a bit. I already know I would do a bunch of things differently, some parts didn't come out to my satisfaction at all, but I learned a lot. I told my wife if the whole thing came out garbage it would be fine, since it's pretty much just a learning exercise and something to do. I'm also trying to get myself into a more aesthetically minded headspace, so I can work out the design details of the custom Dunwich amp Nick is going to make me.

Pretty badass, you won't want to slide it in the shelf anymore, have to display the front of the book

Thanks, there's a lot I would do differently next time, but it was a fun learning project. It's not even a book I want, I just grabbed a book at the Dollar Tree that had about 20 copies on the shelf and used that as a base. Eventually I want to do a full book binding project from scratch, to make a sketch book or something. The book binding part is way harder, I'm going to work up to do that and do some simple projects first. It's kind of a lot of different techniques and skills to put all together, so I'm just doing little projects to learn them all before I do the big one.

I still need to pick some kind of fictional title for doing the gold leaf part. I'm open to requests/suggestions, if you guys have any.

I do like the El Raton(Alpha Dog) on bass it is usable without a bass blend, like hard to explain not an excessive low end loss like some guitar distrotion pedals do, but would still like a bit more bass. It has the Vintage Rat and the Turbo Rat setting, I get a bit more low end with the Turbo Rat setting.

Update, I was listening to the sound samples of the Fuzzrocious Rat Tail today and I think I can cop all those sounds on my El Raton, so I had to update my reply Sam

interesting, the VFE stuff looks really good, i really like what Peter is doing there. Some of it is really innovative and I love the trim pots to be able to adjust how bright the LED is.

Yeah I really dig his stuff too. I am jonsin' for that Enterprise Phaser Junior to get here this month. I wanted to buy soemthing for his Kickstarter program and had a hard time deciding between the Fiery Red Horse and the Phaser, almost got both lol.

Really excited to see them on 4/19. Somehow this will be my first time seeing them.
