I think he pretty much only carries 100s and at the time I ordered that was fine but thanks to that fvck Beebass my band decided to tune down to C# (oh big men I know...) and my dumbass didn't think about it until later. It's funny the bite and low end make it sound scooped but it really isn't that scooped.

Also the case it comes with is very nice and he usually quotes with shipping. All said for a completely custom instrument it's very fairly priced

Awesome, I'm still waiting to hear back from the quote request I sent this weekend. Might have to start wheeling and dealing to sell some stuff off and order one...if only I actually made the money to support the nice gear I want.

Laz, I remember you mentioned getting all aluminum constuction, what body style did you get? other specs?

Demon King and 70s P sounded great on Friday. Jam was great with the new/old guitarist. The flats on the P tore my fingers up. Have to get used to the tension and feel again. Power Chords sounded massive.
Then afterwards got ripped on Red Hook Winter Ale (got 3 six packs for $8), some Forty Creek and oil. Was walking around with sunglasses on talking like Macho Man. :scowl:

Yeah my girlfreind was trying to surprise me and did a lot of research first before getting a venomous animal especially since we have a 5 year old running around the house. Lock on it's cage of course and no other animals out at the same time so it doesn"t get scared or what to eat something lol. But I would never own a venomous snake, these guys are different, they have to not just bite they have to want to envenomate what they are biting. Since they are fed a diet of prekilled food, they lose the desire to envenomate their prey since no need to. A warning snip will not envenomate you either and even that would be very rare. Plus this one is just uber mellow, the guy we got him from was almost in tears giving her up, since he was downsizing his collection, he said she is tame as a kitten and held her all the time and sent us tons of pictures of her on his chest and in his lap. So yeah I am as careful as can be but it's not like owning a cobra or a rattlesnake, which I would never do. Oh an in general not very often have I been bitten by snakes or lizards. A couple baby snake bites, till they tame down, I have own boa that tagged me because I almost dropped him and scared him, my bad though, and it didn"t hurt. The funny thing is the ones that bite most often are some of the little geckos which doesn't really hurt. So yeah in my collection it is really rare to get bit by anything.

Neat stuff. I imagine reptiles aren't that much different from dogs; spend enough time with them and you can read their emotions and tell when they are getting annoyed.

Yeah, all aluminum. Going to be powder coated something close to Matamp Green. I went with the EGC 500 body style. I think so far the only bass with that design is the Yob bass. I just really liked the shape. Also went dual humbuckers like the Yob bass. I had originally picked single coils, but I've been listening to a lot of albums lately where I was really digging some Stingray tone so I switched. Here's the Yob bass. Mine will look pretty damn close to this but with a powder coated aluminum body and my fretboard will be the aluminum color with black block inlays.

In other news I dropped $700 in parts for my wagon. It's time to get that thing running perfect.
Exhaust, ECU (which I need to get chipped), Balance shaft eliminator kit, Tranny mount, super bad ass racing driver side engine mount, hydraulic to manual kit for timing belt, water pump, thermostat and some other stuff for distributor.

Ron, i know you guys tune to F, what size string do you use for your lowest? i know youve mentioned having basses have problems with the tunings, even in A and G every bass ive owned hasnt had an issue with tuning. obviously F is lower, but F and G are a whole step apart so it shouldnt be night and day. i use a 168 for my A/G, curious as to what you play with.

That's another thing. This is loaded through the body so getting something much larger than .140 or higher might be a challenge. The .130 I have on there now barely fits the saddle and nut

Spring have sprung, but here in Moscow, Russia we got everyday snowing hard & sub-zero chill... But, despite that I left my shhitty office job, to take a rest & prepare for bike season, when I can start fixing bikes. Kinda celebrated that ordering some upgrades for my stock MIM Precision Special that are Badass II bridge, DiMarzio pups (Will Power & Ultra Jazz) & Ernie Ball Cobalts B-E-A-D (used to stick with Elixir, but want to check those out too)... Love this MIM already, but feel it's hidden potential that I'm gonna unleash. Maybe some electronic changes would be useful for stock MIM Precision?

i had that issue with my Mockingbird. stupid bad ass bridge has holes too small to fit those monster strings, i had to have scott dremel out the hole to get it through lol.

Awesome, the Yob bass is amazing. I'm inquring for an all aluminum constuction, adonized finish, single pickup, block inlay, and top loading bridge set up for F. I think I'd go for the same shape as OldCrow got. I really dig the one Josh Newton from gearnerd.info has. I'm a little confused as to which shape is what, the 2 pickup and 1 pickup look similar and different so I'm not sure if that's a series 2 or a 500.

Still anxiously awaiting just hearing back from Kevin, way too early to be thinking about all of this stuff haha.

I'm using a set of circle k 34" scale .190 .142 .106 .079 They are the first and only strings I've found since playing in F in which the F string actually sounds like a note, and not just dull thudding that is kind of in key.

I tried a bunch of different strings and setups before finding the one that worked for me (Conklin, LaBella, mismatched sets made up of various gauges). But several of the basses/string sets I tried using just would not stay in tune. I would have to retune after every song, or even mid song, whereas I wouldn't have that problem with the same bass in a normal tuning.

gotcha, circle K is what im using as well, just slightly smaller. ill be putting them on the 650B tonight, hopefully theres no tuning issue. ever since i switched to these bigger gauges ive had no issues (i used to use a ken smith 150 and it would not stay in tune for **** no matter what bass it was on). circle K stuff is seriously awesome (and if he ever goes out of business i have no idea what im gonna do for strings lol).

My RD Artist has a dual string through/top load bridge, so I was hoping Kevin could do something like that, I could load the more normal gauged strings through the body, and the massive ones top loaded as the .190 doesn't really like to bend (I have my F top loaded and the BEA through the body on the RD currently).

Yeah, I'd stock up if I heard he was going under or something. Although I play those strings until they break, I don't need a really bright string as I get most of my treble from my pedals.

I really want to try out his normal gauged strings on my P-bass, but I'm nervous because I don't think I would be able to go back to my cheap D'Addarios after switching.
