Stoner/Doom Bassists 51: Back To The Future

Well considering that your criminal record can be viewed by the public,I`d have to say that a criminal background check isn`t an total invasion of privacy.

Having said that,I still feel it`s wrong for an employer to have a say in what I do off the clock. To me drug testing represents a employer over stepping their bounds from the work place into the private life of the employee.

Now if someone shows up to work staggering about, slurring words or acting bizarrely the employer should be able to take action. Because they`re on work property and on the clock earning a paycheck.

In my mind I see it like this:
drunk/high at work=not cool.Someone could be hurt/killed,property could be damaged and work productivity can go down. I don`t see a problem with a Drug/alcohol test at the point where you`re visibly impaired.

drunk/high at home=totally cool. I`m in the privacy of my home enjoying a relaxing day off.

again its just cause weed is illegal. you dont get tested for alcohol cause its legal.

and again this is always from stoner dudes. ive never seen people say "if i wanna do heroin on my own time my employer doesnt need to know" lol. once weed becomes legal (which it will), this will all go away. so in the meantime, put the pipe down before you apply for jobs and drink as many system cleaners from GNC that you can lol.

Guys, as the friendly resident doctor... Take note; bentonite clay & no flush niacin is your friend. 2 weeks (more is better) and you will pee clean, just give yourself a few days off the niacin before you test. Lots of water. The niacin flushes the blood and kidneys. The bentonite pulls the the out of the fat cells . Use as directed on the labels.

Just because a drug is illegal doesn't mean the employer should enforce the law. They don't ask you if you have ever shoplifted before, or if you've ever killed someone that the cops don't know about.

i know if i owned a business i wouldnt want to hire a drug addict, but thats just me. call me crazy!

and they do check that stuff for certain jobs, which is why i mentioned background/criminal checks. that sort of thing usually suggests a pattern of behavior. if you run a retail store youd like to know if the person youre hiring has been fired or convicted of shoplifting. not sure why thats an issue.

Slightly different topic, but I'm also strongly against the idea that welfare recipients should have mandatory drug testing when the politicians pushing for these laws are doing lines of coke off a hooker's ass, both paid for with my tax money.

i was for it, then i realized how much money it cost me in taxes haha. and the rate of people they caught using was too small to continue doing it.

however, it is ****** and sad that people would use welfare checks for drugs, but lots of people are ****** and sad, so what can ya do!

I'd argue that the money lost to welfare recipients who abuse the system is an ant hill compared to the skyscraper of money lost due to tax loopholes and untaxed politically involved churches. Make just one of the multi billion dollar corporations actually pay taxes and suddenly that money used for welfare is not so vital...

BINGO.

Read a pretty interesting thing about taxing financial transactions on Wall St... Something like 3cents for every $100. Would bring in, roughly, $352B over 10 years. Effing A.

I'm not a tax heavy guy, but we let so many things slip through the cracks while we get mad at someone that legit needs economic help because they are having issues getting a job that pays enough to survive.

I probably should shut up now as I don't want to burn any bridges on this site...hahah

edit:
ahhh, here's the article from Washington Post. Invalid Link Removed

Sorry to chime in...Drug tests are garbage. I don't think most employers care what you do on your own time as long as you come in and do a good job. The drug tests are merely to suck the insurance companies d!cks and get a cut on rates. What I don't get is how you can have a medical marijuana card and not get a job cause you fail the drug test. If I were a pill zombie I could get a job cause I have a prescription for vicodin, oxy or whatthefxckever. Total BS.

I agree employers drug test because drugs are illegal. The great irony is that good old legal alcohol is responsible for more work place accidents, sick days and poor quality work than anything else. And yet employers don`t test for alcoholics among the applicants.

I also agree that if a guy wants a particular job bad enough he can "put the pipe down" for a bit so that he can pass the drug test. I think that part of being a responsible adult is to have a job. I also think that responsible adults should be able to safely use whatever intoxicants they see fit in their own home. Without having to worry about losing their job. As long as their use doesn`t have a negative impact at work.

I guess we`ll just have to agree to disagree on this subject.:)

Off topic,I just ordered a Radial BigShot a/b/y/ pedal based off of beebass`s recommendation. I`ll be running 2 stacks soon enough!!

and i agree with everything you said. i have no issue with pot smoking, its something i dont do, but its a lot safer than drinking which is legal. so yeah, i think youre spot on.

although im not sure how many people safely use meth/heroin/cocaine. again this always goes back to pot, you dont see anyone pushing for the legalization of any specific drug, aside from weed. at least i dont? lol

Dude, you have no idea how stoked I am to be able to run two full stacks together! It wasn`t even my original intent to end up with two. I had old 115 paired with my SVT-350 and then I bought my 410 like 7 years ago. Last year I got my 300Pro tube head(which I love!!). Then 3 months ago I bought a used 115 for cheap to match with the other one(a side effect from hanging out here)for 215 radness. Then last week I randomly saw the matching 410 on ebay, which my wonderful GF gave to me as my b-day gift. After years of buying gear it`s finally all come together!

The other day I was thinking about selling the 15`s to make some room in the house when a light bulb went off in my noggin`. "Jeeze,I`ve got a lot of stuff here in the house.I might even have enough for two stacks. ............. ............I`ve....got....two....STACKS!!!!!!"
So in preparation I bought a new power cord for my amp,2 new speaker cables and that Radial Bigshot to spit my signal.
I`m going to dust off my VT Deluxe and put that in front of the SVT(the VT pedal sounds more like a real SVT than the STV-350 does) and the 215`s for my clean side. I`ll run my effects thru the 300pro/810. At least that`s the plan. I might try and run both amps dirty, each with a different effect.
