Can one of you fine gentlemen give me a example of a "doom" song or band?

My all time favorite doom song is Grasping Air by Yob.



If you have a good stereo, turn this up and melt. Simple riffs, slow and powerful beyond belief. Not everyone's cup of tea, but certainly ours!

That Ahab song that was just posted is another fine example.

i just try to keep my lines as simple and to the point, i learned long ago that noodling in metal is awful. id rather underplay than overplay 10 times out of 10.

I feel like I need to underplay more, I try to noodle and end up messing up because I try to do to much. I need to keep things KISS, Keep It Stupid Simple


We got a mixer interface, except my guitars laptop isnt powerful enough to record everything, but what it did record sounded great. spent most of practice trying to get that thing working.

We should easily be able to make a good quality EP with this thing once we get a better computer, which my guitarist might be picking up a Mac G5 soon.

To all the dudes that run 2 stacks,I have a question.

How do you go about doing that? Do you use some type of splitter box?

I want to run my 2 stacks at the same time but I`m not sure how to go about doing it.
If I play my Ric I can just use the Ric-o-sound jack and the Y-cable to shoot each pup to their prospective amp. But I don`t want to be limited to just my Ric.
Any help would be super rad!

To Mike in Chicago: DooM is a really broad genre. Bands like High on Fire,Sunn O))),The Sword and Yob all fall under that banner even tho they don`t sound very similar.

How do you go about doing that? Do you use some type of splitter box?

I want to run my 2 stacks at the same time but I`m not sure how to go about doing it.

Well sometime this summer I'm having Nic build me want I call the Dunwich DOOMswitch its an A/B/C/D/Y w/ effect loops. So You can take one guitar and plug into up to four stacks, each with their on chain of effects if you so desire or send all of your effects to 4 stracks, OR run one preamp into four slave heads, OR like I'm planning on using it alot with this Peavey PA head, splitting effects between different channels...there are many different uses for it.


EDIT: right now I have a ART CoolSwitch, works fine. Just doesnt have power point, only runs on a battery.

One last thing, anybody here use a multiple guitar/bass rack? Something that could hold 5 to 7 basses? I don`t need it to be road worthy,it`s just going to stay in my house.

I have the 7 guitar one from Quick Lok. Works great and very sturdy. you can even double up on the slots if you are careful, like 2 guitars, 2 basses in one of the 7 spaces.

I've been gas'ing for a Peavey T40 and finally found one where I didn't feel like I was getting raped for it.

Just got it setup so I'm going to plug it in tonight through my practice amp to see how it all sounds/feels.

My guitarist recommended I get a Radial ABY after I got my Ampeg 810. Solid ABY pedal. I think I paid like $40 for it. Worth it.

Everyone here will agree on Black Sabbath's early stuff.

Personally, I'm into Traditional Doom, Stoner, Sludge, Death-Doom and Black-Doom
Don't care at all for Drone Doom, it's repetitive and annoying and I can't stand it.

Bands I've been really into recently:
High On Fire, Witchcraft, Baroness, The Sword, Woods of Ypres

And then there's the classics:
Kyuss, Sleep, Electric Wizard, Orange Goblin, Saint Vitus, Pentagram, Goatwhore, Blue Cheer

Thanks guys! I`m defiantly looking for a cheap solution. I don`t see myself rocking 2 stacks daily. I`d use it once and a while so I`m not looking to invest much money.

As it is I had to buy a new power cord for my amp head and still have to buy 2 more speaker cables in order to get it up and running.

Terror Bass 500 is around $500 used from what I've seen.

I use a whirlwind selector for my AB/Y when I ran two rigs in consent. They're more expensive than some others, $100 new, but super quiet and sends an even signal to both amps.
