I ventured out of the S/D thread, but it was a really long post.

Id say a pretty safe post...nice shootout, so what was the point of it all again? Find a new head that wont break?

Interesting conclusions, got bit by the gk bug lately myself. How similar would you say the boost function was on both the GK's?

Pretty similar on the MB and 800rb. Both seemingly make the amp sound more full, more so on the MB. Almost seemed to thicken up the lows a bit on the MB. The point of the shootout was to find a replacement for the 9.0. I really want to keep my 800rb as a result and use it more often live. Ill keep the 9.0 as a backup for the GK till it sells or is replaced. Probably replaced by the mb800 or maybe even the fusion 800. But the later is not in production yet. I was pretty surprised how much i liked the MB500. Both GK's sounds pretty F'n tasty with the 78 Ric and the Rat.

Its funny, I just got back from checking out two 1001RBs. I couldn't find an mb800 to check out. I really want to check out a 700RB and the mb800 soon.

I did dig the tones i was getting out if the 1001RB through an Ampeg 810, using a Fender modern player jazz. I will have to figure out what past of that equation i liked the most.

Prolly the 810 I kind of like the MB series better then the newer RB series. Do your self the favor and try one.

That was pretty much my conclusions with the boost knob on my 2001rbp. Seems to enrich the low mids, to me. Been playing it through my fEARful and that single knob makes it sound more like a true bass cab than any other knob on it. Haven't had time to get my RAT in working order again, this may be the motivation I need.
Then again, mehbe not.

Pharoah has never left my guitarists board and has beaten out probably 10 other fuzzes, maybe more. Thing sounds great.

Really wish my GK combo had the boost knob. It sounds alright, but its just not the same without the boost function.

I was originally looking into the new berg nv115. But I don't know if I want a 15/6 cab as I'm not usually a huge fan of the crossover (I kept the 6 off in my nv215) also they're like $900.

The mini ampeg 2x10 might be the way to go for me. Small, sealed, and no extra things I would not need. Also 1/3 the price of the berg.

I've got a few other things to take care of before I grab a cab anyways, so ill just have to see what I want once I got the funds for it.

Yeah.. I would be interested in checking out that MB Fusion 800 heads. But there is a nice appeal to the easy to find, at a great used price RB series head. I am not in a rush though, I wonder if the MB Fusion 800 sounds similar to the GB Streamliner?
