HM-2 are cool. dime all the controls for the classic Swedish metal guitar sound.

they can get Rat-like on bass. Definitely a good pedal to have around.

Listening to Lights Out by Graveyard and I'm liking it a lot more than when the album originally came out.

I was listening to stoner bands, heavy blues, and retro psych stuff, and found my way to Witchcraft and Graveyard and loved them, then I read Doom Metal/Rock and was that is what that is called lol, then I searched more and Electric Wizard and Sleep popped up and I was thrown back because it had been years since I really listened to anything actually heavy. Kind of cracks me up, Queens of the Stoned Age was about the heaviest stuff I listened too in years, and now I am eating the stuff up.

I just tried them for the first time for my down tuned Jazz Bass. I was told they don't have a lot of tope end and lots of mids, which is what I want for my J. They certainly match the description. The first 3 strings are ok but the low C (.126) sounds like garbage. Really thuddy and dead. This is the last set of GHS strings I ever buy. I have tried Boomer, Brite Flats, Flats, Pressure Wounds. They all either sounded like crap or wouldn't intonate.

The La Bella Nickels are really bright, kind of boxy sounding. not sure what kind of tone you are looking for but they are pretty bright for nickels.


I am having a real hard time finding strings from my J. I like the Nickel Lo-Riders but they dont come in the gauge I need for the low tuning. Any suggestions for a warm nickel plated string that comes in a .125, .95, .70, .50? Doesn't have to come a set as long as I can buy them as singles. I'm willing to try darker sounding SS too if I have to. Tried La Bella, D'addario and Boomers so far.

I've used Dean Marley blue steel but use daddario nickel round .100

Was thinking of getting something different just for shitzengiggles...

I had good luck with these strings going all the way down to C F A# D# tuning on a Yamaha BB300 pbass style. Cheap too.

I used their flats before, they were pretty good.

I'm using D'Addario Half Rounds on my Jazz tuned to C standard. .105 set!! The extra tension they have is letting me get away with such a small string in low tuning. Sound pretty good too, although haven't tried them out with a full band yet.

Whew, crisis averted. Think we came up with a pretty solid contingency plan for recording that's going to work out pretty well.

Also, looks like my bass is just about finished. Can't freaking wait to get that thing.

Those are working good for you?

I bought 2 packs of Blue Steels a long time ago and broke a D string a few days after having them on my bass. Then when I changed the D string, a day later the G string broke. I`m not exactly heavy handed either. That was the only time I`ve ever broke a bass string.

That was the first and last time I used Blue Steels.

Man, I loved that album upon first listen. Caught them on tour too. Really good!

Anyone have any Pharaoh settings for bass so I don't have to futz around too much? (Sam?)
