Got the fret buzz all fixed up and the bass plays like a dream. So far I think I'm digging the bridge pickup by itself with the tone knob wide open. Makes every note sing. Like a piano that sounds like a stingray if that makes sense.

Do you know what the issue with the Matamp is? Mine had a screen resistor that was shorting out because the vibrations caused it to touch the chassis. I just placed some electrical tape between the resistor and chassis and haven't had a problem since.
Check the bottom of the resistor for scorch marks. If anyone if them is scorched then its an easy fix
