Man 7:15 hours 416 miles later and Back in Virginny. Think the girlfriend was upset that I pulled my recent Squier Strat out of its gigbag and put it on my stand before I brought the sleeping child in. Lol. Let sleeping dragons lay I always say. Nothing like opening the door to the smell of dead field mouse that thank goodness my cat found and roughed up, wish the cat new how to open the window and throw it outside though lol

1. Sick VT

2. Geoff, that sucks your matamp is f-ing up. If you can't get it fixed/reliable. Im sure you could get some decent $ for selling it towards another amp. Even if you got some cheap-er backup amp in the meantime while a sweet dunwich (or something less sweet, but equally loud) would be being built/found. For example an old GK 800rb or A.M.P. BH-420 are two amps that I got for sub $300 that are absolutely amazing sounding.

Hello sirs. The birds are chirping and for some reason my wife and I are still up. Actually, we were heading to bed but she was messing with the drum set we got her for her birthday. :bassist: She's learning drums so we can form whatever band we want, it's going to be killer (I hope). My dreams of having a drum and distorted bass doom combo are getting closer. Had the cops called on us tonight because we were testing the new snare and I guess the neighbor thought it sounded like gunshots. Mwahahaha.

Going to start playing again here soon. I think we have this wound packing in my belly down. The only thing that sucks is when the tape gives out and I have nasty bloody gauze squares falling out of me. Working on that one. Would be nice to get back to work and get some paychecks again too. Short term disability should be coming but that takes time.

Coming close to death should have been some kind of awakening. I really don't know what to make of it. If I waited a few more days I would have probably have been done for. Time to write some music about it I guess.

Congrats on the drum set! Those are fun. And take it easy till you are on the mend.

In other news... Although far from DOOM, This P bass tone ROCKS! Do you guys think it is just SVT OD? or something else?

i feel odd watching this, but that does indeed sound a P bass, an SVT/810 of some description and a heavy compressor somewhere in the chain

lol, no offense to the matamp guys, but this is all absurd. theyre this world renowned amp maker, and with geoff and another guy hes buddies with having the exact problems, and sam having to put electrical tape to avoid shorting, i gotta say *** is up with them?

mr mathias would be appalled i say!

The tape was just a fail safe. The true fix was lifting the resistors so they sat higher off the chassis. Took about 20 seconds to do once we figured out the issue.

They paid for all the tech fees and gave me a free custom faceplate. So i don't have any complaints. Having said that everytime i hear of an issue it has been in North America. Maybe they are getting bumped around too much during the extended distances? Since then I've had no issues while my SVT has been in the shop a couple of times.

I noticed the exact same thing. Here in Europe or UK, all I hear is praise and IF there is even a minor issue/failure, they always are quick to react.

I know it can seem like a biased speech because my band is endorsed by Matamp but even though they are slow email-ers, the contact by phone with Jeff, Andrew or Hayden is always great and (I can only speak for my experience of course) customer care has been top-notch since the beginning.

Thus, OldCrow's story bums me a bit. I hope everything gets back in order.

Good to hear you're doing better Jason!

Gorgeous piece of bass Laz. I'm drooling.

I had this on a 90's RAT2 with LM308. Not a huge fan, really of the bass increase mods for a Rat, it's my least favorite. Decreases the gain, and while it adds some bass, it doesn't sound so much like a rat anymore.

Ah yep. The decreased gain is what I'm most worried about and losing the snarl that the RAT has. Mine's a much newer one with a generic IC instead of the LM308 so we'll see what happens. I guess if I don't like it I can resolder the resistor. Thanks Ron!

I guess I just expected something more finished and bullet proof. I know tube amps have inherent maintenance, this isn't my first rodeo, but I've owned my JMP for almost 10 years and the Matamp is dangerously close to having been in the shop the same number of times

Pulled out the 2x15 and 6x10 last night at practice. God that sounded great. I only had to turn each side of my amp up halfway. After moving both twice, I think I'm gonna get rid of the 2x15. I just can't move it by myself, and that makes it fairly useless to me.
