Sounds familiar. Our drummer hasn't been to practice in 3 weeks. His brother tells me 2hrs before practice. And since I have to pick the drummer up. Hearing it directly from the source would be nice. I do have other sh!t I would like to do instead of waiting at home til traffic dies down to pick his ass up and then hear him complain/have anxiety for 45 min on the way to practice.
He's a nice guy. But jesus everything is dramatic and negative. Shut the f*ck up, take some deep breaths and put on your big boy pants.
if youve been in bands long enough youve dealt with people like this. its the worst man, people bailing on practice. in my experience, people like that do not change, and its what they do in their real life outside of the band. my advice is no matter how good a musician they are or what they contribute, move on from them if you want to save yourself drama and ********.
and on a side note, the Rocky IV soundtrack is better than whatever you are listening to right now. im trying real hard not to start knocking over cubes at my office yelling DRAGO!
I was "that guy" last year. I was jammin with a buddy. It was fun at first, but then it was nothing but bad vibes and to much drugs (the ones I have been known to have troubles with). I started making excuses for a bit. Eventually I quit being a puss and told him. "Sorry man it's not really working. Is it cool if I leave my drums over here, though?" hahaha. "I'll try to come by and work on some stuff with you from time to time."
yeah the drugs/drinking thing is also a killer. i used to play with a drummer who physically couldnt play unless he took like 10 bong rips. he used to try to play while on E too, that was fun for me. and by fun i mean the exact opposite.
im probably in the minority but i hate when practice turns into a party. im there to play music with my friends and create something cool, not get hammered and not get anything done. i guess i was in too many bands in my teens/early 20s full of dudes who just wanted to party and not play that it made me go the exact opposite direction.
Yeah, I'm cool with some beers and bud. Get a little buzz going that's fine with me.

thats why I thought a drum machine would fix that, but the whole its basically playing to a click track kills it for me. I already want to sell/trade my vintage univox for some kind of muff for my guitar rig.
Turned a classmate onto DOOM today, through none other than Hank 3, he played one of his country songs an i was like, did you know he played heavy rock too? I played him Hanks tribute to Sleep videos on youtube, then listened to all of Dopesmoker, I think hes hooked.

I have that experience, with friends who seemingly always have some personal catastrophe going on. Whenever I talk to my wife about it, I always break it down to the difference between people who have a list of problems they have to overcome vs people who have a list of reasons why they can't ever do anything or a big list of excuses for all their fvckups. I'm a pretty supportive friend, but it's hard to keep up sympathy over a long period of time when people seem like they'd rather have a lot of problems to crab about than try to get past it and improve their situation.

What`s being reissued? When I got my turntable a few years back I went on a hunt and bought almost every 7 inch,split,10 inch and LP that At The Drive In put out. Looking back, I think I spent a bit too much money. At least I have a sweet record collection! I may still pick up a reissue.......
For me ATDI really came into their own with RoC. Every song is just so fvcking awesome. Not one dud in the bunch. I still really love VAYA tho. I think it`s a really good EP. If you listen to their albums in the order they were released you can hear the band grow and mature with each new record. Which makes it all the more sucky that they broke up after making their masterpiece.
I'm similar in that I also can't stand it when rehearsal just becomes an excuse to sit around drinking beer and partying.

I've got some "stuff"
- still have riffs in my was from last night. This is a good thing!
- got my new phaser on my board gonna try to check it out tonight after work
- wasn't thrilled by the way the finish on my 810 took to the foot cups. I layed an initial coat of urethane to help blend the edges better. Well see how it finishes tonight. Then ill be able to put on the feet / skate trucks.
