Let's just say that my experience with them so far has been less than stellar, blow fuses is a symptom and not a cause, there's some other underlying issues that are causing the blown fuses that I'm still waiting to hear back from Matamp on, but in a nut shell, stay away. Gatdam redcoats, check out the sig hahaha.
Ok, quick first impressions! I only got a chance to play it through my living room amp so far, probably won't take it through the full rig until tomorrow or this weekend, and I need to adjust the saddle height to take out some fret buzz in the E string.
Before even playing it I immediately noticed how fantastic the fit and finish is. The powder coating is perfect, the polished aluminum can function as a mirror, and looking this thing up and down with a very particular eye, I can't find a damn thing "wrong" with it. Great craftsmanship. Obviously expected with a $2400 bass, but that doesn't always result in such.
The notes "sing" on this thing. It is hard to describe, and much easier to hear, but Geoff mentioned this as well. Something about the aluminum just sounds very musical. There's a lot of harmonic overtones or something going on that you don't normally hear.
Plays very easy. The neck at the nut is slightly skinnier than my Ric, and about the same where the neck meets the body. It is very comfortable. I can anchor my thumb on either pickup and play. With a perfectly straight neck, the action is very low, and fretting notes is pretty effortless.
THE TONEZ. Very happy with my wiring/electronics selection. Interesting differences between normal and tapped coils (I had a push-pull pot installed for this). The bridge pickup solo'd sounds AWESOME. Very similar to a stingray. Nice and aggressive with lots of cut. Mixing in the neck pickup adds some deepness to the tone. Neck solo'd sounds pretty similar to a P but with some more bite. Hard to really analyze the tone with my living room amp, as it can get loud but not chest kicking loud. I'll be able to play with the tonal options much more with my big boy rig.
Overall, it was basically everything I expected. Looks, feels and sounds awesomeThe woman flies home tonight so I'll get her to take some photos over the next couple of days.
Wait until you get it at volume and hear the sustain and crazy chorus it has.

Sunn Beta Lead, I'm coming to the conclusion I'm fvcked, so I'm looking at other options, most likely SVT but who knows.
