Yup we had a 300T for awhile. One of our guitarists used it as part of his rig and it was absolutely crushing (2-6x12's sound city 200, and 300T) . But it ended up lacking definition and he became more of a wall of sound than fitting in with the rest of the band. He recently picked up a 70's GK 400rb and its working perfectly. Huge volume, versatile EQ and sounds great being pushed by a Rat.

I used the 300t in Consent along with my 1200s for a dual bass rig thing that we did. It was a great sounding amp, but still fell into the same pitfalls I've experienced with other tube amps that I was talking about earlier. Although the gain channel on the 300t sounded massive in comparison to the 1200s. The 1200s can nail a light/mild OD mixed with the clean channel, whereas the 300t was thicker dirtier and meaner overall.

very true. The master seems to peak at about 4 or 5. I'm running mine with the channels volumes at about 3, and the master at 4 and it's gig-worthy volume, but going past that with the master, i don't feel like there's a whole lot more volume coming my way.

Love that amp though. Heavy as hell, but damn she sounds good.

WANTED!

anyone got a treble pickup cover for a 4001 (exactly the same as the 4003 i think actually) they wouldn't mind selling to a lovely fellow all the way over in new zealand? (me)

pickofthericks is out of stock for who knows how long and i'd be keen to nab one for cheap.

also Sam, out of curiosity and tonelust i checked out your youtube page again - Mordrake's Revenge and This is Herman Nelson sound absolutely amazing with the Rick + GT200. awesome finish on the rick too, i definitely need another one to be the 'evil twin' to my current.

i, in fact, have a fun proposition and talkbass stoner/doom bassist thread offer only - would anyone be willing to trade their rickenbacker treble pup cover for a cassette copy of one of their recordings? I have a few C30s, 60s and 90s and a great cassette recorder (which i just fixed the azimuth alignment on) to dub from a digital copy to cassette.

fun as a novelty, or perhaps an inspiration for your next format release? who knows..

Just figure out what the internal volume is, and look up different eminence 15's that are suited for a sealed cab. Make sure the internal volume is enough for two of em.

thanks man, funny enough the Oxfuzz Germanium that I'm selling was pretty much on the entire time during that Clocktower set. maybe I need to keep it...

I'd love another 4001 or maybe a 4003 as long as it has the thin neck profile.

I bought a 2007 Ric and it had big baseball bat of a neck. really deep front to back and pretty wide, not quite P-bass wide but almost. just did not feel like a Ric. it never really sounded like one either. I am pretty sure anything from the 70s would have the thinner neck. I don't think the thicker ones were around before the 80s but I am not sure.

all new rics i've played feel like this - i believe they're all cut CNC now so they're all uniform shape in the neck. boring!

i'll be shooting for a '76-'77 4001 next time round because it is almost guaranteed they've got the thin neck/shedua strip combo

That "turquoise" 2003 Ric I owned for like two weeks had a neck very similar to a P. Felt huge compared to the '85 blue beast.

Awesome Supervoid practice tonight. We're trying to nail some stuff down so we hit the studio running and just crush this full length. My guitarist sold his VT-22 combo, and is now using one of the gnarliest guitar rigs I've ever heard. He's running the Marc Ford Roccaforte into his Avatar 412. That amp is just so freaking BEEFY. The Avatar cab is pretty neutral, so the Roccaforte comes out in full force. He's much more audible, has more clarity, and a lot more thickness to his tone. This means that the rest of us can turn up some more, resulting in us being louder :P I think I have my TB1000 volume knob all the way up to 2 (on a scale of 0-10)!
