I was listening to a podcast last week where they were playing and talking about a bunch of bands, including Kyuss. One of the guys joked how when you get into punk, everyone tries to get into The Cramps, but just can't. That gave me a 90s flashback and made me laugh really hard. I got into punk and rockabilly/psychobilly in the 90s and everyone told me I HAD to listen to The Cramps. I never could get into them.

Nothing really springs to mind when it comes to these genres. I like most of the biggies, some more than others. I couldn't get into YOB forever, but I love them now.

Programmed drums, with zero finessing of any sort. I just sequenced everything in midi real quick. We'll probably go back and make it more subtle and realistic, unless the guitarist wants it to have a more Agoraphobic Nosebleed vibe. There just simply aren't any drummers in the area who are available and can play this type of music. If there were Mental Waste would probably be a gigging band.

those vintage slim fender 15" cabs are amazing sounding for guitar but lack the super low end doom on bass, i assume due to their depth. they have an amazing upper middy/treble tone though.

Corey - the grind songs are sweet. I dig it, a lot.

There's always bands that people tell me I will like, or I should like, and then I'll listen to it and realize that most people have no idea what kind of music I like at all. Really too many to list, plus then I'll just sound like an ******* who hates everything.

I'm assuming there's some sort of high pass filtering going on. I'm pretty sure there is in the D-180, which doesn't have very big transformers (though, of course, it's also way lower wattage).

I remain skeptical but hopeful. Supposedly BGM is going to bench test these when they come out. Knowing that, given their past record of inflated specs (like the 400+), the new amps will be immediately bench tested, it would be stupid of Mesa to not even be in the ballpark. Especially since the 465 and 250 watt claims are recent revisions, and until they came out with the KT88 versions, they'd been billing these as 300 watt and 100 watt amps, respectively (with the 6L6 tubes).

haha, for a while I lived with a guy that works at the local record store...always has rad **** coming in and is always trying to recommend stuff.

He finally quit trying to get me to listen to stuff because none of my tastes made any sense.

I get satisfied by a certain sound a band has and, whether they "originated" the sound, or not, I typically don't need more bands with the same sound. So much, "Hey, you love Mastodon, check these guys out!" My response was, "well, they kinda sound like Mastodon, but, nah...Mastodon does it better"

Anyway, I'm a wreck.

I'm not trying to start **** or whatever, tube amps are sweet. I wish I could find one that would work for me, I've been thinking of picking up something that's more light weight and less costly to maintain than an SVT to run in combination with one of my hybrid amps. I had ran a rig like that briefly when I had my Sunn and SVT-II and it was the perfect mix of that undefiniable tube amp sound, plus the clean bottom end and headroom from my sunn. I ended up not using it live since it was carrying around a 80lb amp to not really increase my volume at all, but rather just get a slightly different tone. Now a 40lb amp...that would be something to consider.

Did you ever try the Sunn 300T/Fender Bassman 300Pro? Since it's the tube version of your 1200S amp, I mean. Weighs a ****ton, I hear, though.

I wonder if it would still be too 'squishy' in the low end?

Probably not, but a lot of people on here say that they get really loud when clean. Still, not that worth it, I guess. Was just curious if Ron had tried one.

Fortunately for me, I'm only tuned down to B, when I play doom, so the only amps I've had squishiness problems with in the lows were guitar heads.
