Stoner/Doom Bassists #64 - sensitive artsy emo chicks

damn...im sooooo far behind here...

in other news: just spent the day shooting a ton of guns... yeehaw!...and shiit.

Good on you, I miss plinking as we called it up in PA with my Dad, my brother, my cousins, and my buddies. My friend and his brother would save their old milk and water jugs, fill them up with water, and we would go to the shale hills with the 12 gauges and Milk Jug Skeet shoot. One guy would toss the jug as far up the shale hill as he could then as it rolled down we would light it up and watch the little water explosions. I have lost my enjoyment of hunting but still miss plinking!

Got to catch a show tonight here in Edinburgh! The Bastard Sons stole the show. The US band, Throw the Goat were kind of an audio mess, muddy/mono tone. But they had an awesome song about BEEF. The venue is really cool, Bannermans bar, the stage room is basically a brick cave with a rounded roof. Totally want to play there.

Cool but that bassist is showing too much skin! Talk about skin on bologna, lol.

Saw Fister & Bongripper at a house show last night. Bought some vinyl, drank a couple beers & shot the sh!t with Ron a bit. Met up with him at their practice spot this morning for a little trade action and now have a Berg NV215 sitting in the office. Big fun in Chicago! You must see Bongripper live, they fu**ing crush.

Stopped over my guitarist's house after my bass lesson today to catch him recording the last of his guitars for our full length. He was tracking solo's for our song titled Swampland with an Epiphone he pulled the frets on and was playing with a slide. The solos sound like a southern hillbilly playing slide guitar on acid. Very pleased with the results!

Just have vocals to record now!

Amps? Forget amps. You need to be going direct through in-ear-monitors, because obviously we all play on pro stages with PA support and cooperative, competent sound engineers. You must either have no bass and only mids, or you must have no mids, because you're leaving the mids to the guitars and being felt, not heard, because you're in a support role. Play for the song, guys. Forget tonewoods, obviously the material you make an instrument out of makes no difference whatsoever, the only thing that matters is your string choice (you need to use the fancy core strings, they're the only choice), since we only play P-basses with tort pickguards. If you must have an amp, god forbid you have any overdrive whatsoever. If you do, you're playing the wrong instrument, as clearly you're just a frustrated guitarist. Aren't praise and worship gigs the best?!

Seriously, though, I still have no idea what a gramma pad is.

Catching up have some good laughs.

That sounds like total blast!(pun intended) What type of guns did you take out for the day?
Also,I`ve been hearing that ammo prices are sky high(at least in NY state),did you notice any crazy prices?

Some of the best father/son times involved me and my dad ripping up a hill side with .22s and laying waste to aluminium cans. With extreme prejudice!

Definite pleasure to meet you as well man, also glad you enjoyed the show and thanks for the kind words.

Hope you enjoy the 215. I know I'm gonna enjoy the hell out of the strategy (as well as the other members of Bongripper).
