Yeah, I've done it plenty of times. Hard to say if there's a "trick", there's a lot of subtlety to recording in general. I would still try to individually mic and isolate everything if you can. Even if all you can do is turn the amps into a corner on the other side of the room or something. This song was recorded in a garage, with the drums in one corner and each amp in the others, turned towards the wall, then lead guitar and vocals overdubbed later. Usually when I do live recording it's drums and everyone playing with headphones in one room, then the amps in another. The only solid tip I'd give you is setup everything and play around with tones, mic choice and placement on one day, until you like the sound of everything. Then come back the next day to do your actual takes. That way you don't burn up all your energy on setup and you can just step in, hit record and play as much as needed to get good takes and hopefully keep it fresh. With stuff like that I'll usually have everyone come in on a Friday night, setup, sound check everything, then record all day during the weekend. You usually end up changing a few things the next day anyway, but it's still helpful, especially for drums.

Similar geographically to MI. It gets hot, and then it get humid which makes it feel worse.
It was 50 degrees for a few days, now it's 90 and like 150% humidity. Pennsylvania weather is dumb.
When it gets that hot up there, you just ride your moose to your igloo and drink beer. The igloo, being ice, will keep you AND your beer cold. Simple.

I've got a plan to take the amp section out of my Carvin vintage 33 combo and make a case for it. Any words of wisdom other than the classics/basics such as "get it right"?

I haven't been clean shaven since before I lost 100 lbs, so I have no idea what my face really looks like. I have the reverse problem, my wife won't let me shave. I trimmed down to a goatee recently and she made me go back to the full beard. 99% of the time my beard is out of control and I'm behind on trimming it neatly, but every few years I really want to shave for just a week or two. Maybe a controlled burn every once in a while.

I'm pretty sure I've been culturing my beard since my wedding in Dec. It tends to be Brown, Red, and 4 shades of AWESOME. I've been bearded since HS, I think I've shaved clean twice in those 11 years. The heat never bothers me, but it was a tough decision, to eventually abandon the hair on my dome and work with what I have left, where i have it.

Absolutely, I do that now. Going forward, I don't want to lug around the useless cab/speaker. I want a smaller rig and a cleaner look. Non intimidating, mini tube stack for small get-togethers, with "mystery" tube head.

my ex was from the Toronto area, I visited one summer and she kept warning me how hot it would be which was hilarious. She thought I was being rude Then she came to austin and when she actually witnessed our summer, she realized there is a difference. Now I won't say its intolerable or we're surviving anything crazy down here, but you can't deny I'm a lot closer to the equator and it does get hotter, and its just as humid, when its not a draught year. Also your rains prevents giant swathes of highway median erupting in flame when morons throw their cigarettes out the car.Of course I've never seen snow other than an inch or less dusting that disappeared within 24 hours or less. Coldest it's been was in the mid high 20's late at night occasionally. So you guys do have that, be happy you have milder summers.
I never had a beard that was more than a month without shaving. Long head hair in 108F+ sucks very very much, so I keep it short now.
