Was out sick, just catching up now.

Pretty cool recap of the first day of Moving the Earth Fest: http://www.heavyplanet.net/2014/03/moving-earth-festival.html

Whores/Lo-Pan show was on Tuesday. It was ok. Show was unorganized and we ended up getting screwed into closing the show. Getting pretty sick of that crap, but I guess I'm not mean enough to put my foot down and wanted Whores to play in front of a good crowd. Of course, after Lo-Pan and Whores played, most of them went into the band room and didn't even watch our set. Thanks for pushing us to the end of the bill and then not watching us play, guys!

Lo-Pan's singer kept dedicating songs and then the whole set to me. I think it was part of some inside joke I wasn't privy to. Hard to explain unless you know them, but I'm pretty sure they were making fun of me. Whores complained on facebook the next day about people asking to use their gear, and some guy from the next show called them out on it. It was pretty funny. Really tired of these drama queen touring bands that think they're above other bands.

Really annoying to play such a polarizing show right after MTE. At MTE I got to catch up with friends I hadn't seen in years, and all the bands there were as outgoing and as friendly as possible. Then on the flip side, I don't think a single member of Lo-Pan or Whores said anything to my band mates the whole show. Cool.

I saw that rant on Facebook. I agreed with Whores. but I general subscribe to the belief that you shouldn't sling mud. I'm too afraid of making enemies but I should really be more vocal about band/gig B.S.

That's too bad - I have no respect for bands that act that way, and if Whores didn't want people using their gear they could have said no and that would have been the end of it.

I don't expect everyone to be overly-false-friendly to me just because I'm in a local band, you don't have to pretend to be my best friend or claim to like my band/set if you don't, but don't be a ****ing dick just because you're driving around in a van playing shows.

Someone on the level of Lo-Pan acting like a rock star really needs to pull their heads out of their asses and realize that it's local-level fans and bands that gave them what little amount of success that they have. They're mildly popular in a tiny, obscure sub-genre of metal. Keep acting like a tool and people are going to lose interest in your band pretty damn quick.

Laz that's pretty lame of them to act like that. The Janitor summed it up nicely. I've seen a lot of bands at that level acting how they think big rocks stars are supposed to act like.
They're right about gear sharing though. If you're local you probably shouldn't ask to use the touring band's gear unless something breaks last minute.

Man when u mentioned the dedications/inside jokes I thought u meant T-Tops, not Lo-Pan. I thought u were buds with them... but now I dont mind saying I didnt care for their music at all.

T-Tops is a local band I guess that I'd never heard of, I really dug their raw 3 piece sound and their songs had good hooks. Whores was entertaining although they overdo the stage antics, especially for a room full of old grungy metalheads bobbing their heads.

Laz, whatever gear Joe and Dave were using at that show, tell em to stick with it. The guitar tones were perfectly balanced and matched, both good individual tones that worked super well together, and neither of them ran into your sonic territory either. Rare to see a 5 piece heavy band sound so clear and good.

I dont get the tour band attitude.. if I was on tour playing my music to good crowds of people, I'd be having the time of my life and you wouldnt ever see or hear a peep of negativity out of me. Hell I feel like traveling around and talking with other bands and music fans in other cities would be half the fun.... if you're not having fun then why bother? Its not like they're making any money.
