Moved to band management.
Why was that, anyway?
Also, see any marijuana-focused thread outside of this one.
I'd be curious, with recent legislation changes, have the TB rules toward weed threads changed at all?
Probably not.
Its probably why that speaker pairs so well with the Orange Terror amps. Mid bump + passive mid tone stack = awesome.
Back to gear... I'd have to use some ridiculously mid-heavy speakers to be interested in an Orange AD200B. While my D-180 has passive mids, I at least can boost them with the graphic. No option like that for the Orange. Their own 1x15 does seem to be a TL606 design, though.
The faital actually has more true high end than the 3015.
I've heard the Faitals are kinda JBL-ish sounding. The old aluminum cap JBLs had a lot more high end than people expect with 15"s, so if the Faitals are like them, I wouldn't be surprised if they had quite a bit of sizzle.
Over the summer I responded to an ad for a grungy heavy band, the guy called me at 4am to discuss things. Luckily I was awake so it wasn't soured by that, and we hit it off talked 15 minutes, then he says I love Eddie Vedder and Pearl Jam and this is what this is kinda about, can you come tomorrow. At that point without trying to be a dick I said that wasn't what I had in mind (maybe because in the list of influences he didn't mention pearl jam and I hate them). Anyways that was probably early July.
Two days before Christmas I get a call at 8am as it's a dude asking me if I can make it to band practice, they never got a bass player. I have no idea who is talking to me and he's like dude you have such and such and you emailed me not long ago...we talked about this! Anyways turns out it's the pearl jam dude but he refuses to admit we hadn't agreed to jam like two weeks prior, and when I told him is been out of state that long and had known so in advance, he said he'd bought a bass amp for the occasion and got mad, and said for me to call after I got back... Never did.
Lemme guess... guitarist?
i bet its just absurd for guitar. my guitarists 103 is super loud so i cant imagine how nuts itd be with a guitar rig.
in the end im just glad the price i paid, the last one for sale on TB was going for like 4800 and i didnt even pay close to that.
now i just need a vintage SVT to take the place of this VR. looks way too new in that amp lineup haha.
I dunno, man. Those Hiwatts look pretty damn clean. Maybe it's that I can't see as much detail in the photos, but from the front, you could have fooled me if you said the Hiwatt was a new one.
I get at least one or two interactions like that a year at work. It's some kind of universal theme, because my dad got them for years as well and we've joked about it before. Someone calls me to get an estimate on some windows, I send it to them and never hear anything back at all. 2 months later I get a call "Are my windows in yet?".
People are such idiots.
So here's a question - what kinds of bands are you guys playing shows with?
Is it always someone in the S/D realm or do you branch out?
Last show we did there was a melodic death metal band that both my guitarists are in (though one plays drums in this other band), another, very different doom band (that said guitarist/drummer also plays drums in), a country punk band, and another doom band (that again, was quite different).
Next show we do is going to be some drone/ambient and doom fest in the desert. The one after that, back up in the bay area, is going to be with black metal bands.
honestly tho, diverse shows are where its at. you dont want 5 bands that sound the same. thats why i hate death metal shows, its always a bunch of bands with the same hair same jackets same guitars same amps playing the same riffs with the same double bass and the same vocals lol.
the doom/stoner/black metal thing seems to be a lot more diverse because there isnt a formula for each type of music, and a lot of the bands are different so you dont get the same thing over and over. although the bounce bands like copying each other......lol
Yeah, I think that's true. A lot of bands can be doom or black metal without actually sounding all that similar.
At the previous show I mentioned, while
Abstracter and
Lament Cityscape are, like Catapult the Dead, also doom metal, none of them sound all that much like each other, because we kinda occupy slightly different branches of the genre I guess.
