Stoner/DOOM Bassists Part 83: WHAT YEAR IS IT?

For some reason i read that as 500, not 800. Yeah that's a bit high.

$800 is on the high side of the range now...Im seeing old butchers and vtms pulling like $500-$800 for just the head.

VEGA got a great short review...

http://chybuccasounds.com/2013/12/07/vega-demo/

And were not even half way through the month and VEGA is down to less than a third of our free downloads for the month of January. I'd call this release a success.

But its really made me more gun ho about releasing material more often and not letting it sit not being heard. I mean VEGA has a double LPs worth of material not even fully recorded. The tracks I put we've had for almost a year, way before all this happened, they're a couple of our first songs we ever wrote. If we would've released these back then, like I wanted, the band would probably be in a different better and more active situation. But hindsight is 20/20. I'm glad I released them now though.

The new Mesas are really light and they don't use toroidal transformers. Of course, they also dispense with wooden headcases.

We had a mesa rep bring the strategy and prodigy to work for a demo. I asked him about the transformers and how they made them so light. He looked at me like i was speaking Greek and couldn't answer the question. Then he said i couldn't try them out. Not a slam on the product or the company at all, but that was one ****** rep. It was just a really bizarre and bewildering conversation.

Definitely not a rep who did much good for his company.

I asked about the transformers, too, and I don't remember the details of the answer, but the dudes at Mesa did answer it, and I was satisfied with their answer, since I don't know much about transformers anyway.

Though I also got to play the Strategy and it sounds really good, in my opinion.

Bought a new cab today. Picked up an old, beat Ampeg SVT 810 (made in '78, based on the speakers). This thing is mind-numbingly loud compared to my old Avatar 210. I'm a little wary of running too much power into it yet, as I can't find any concrete power ratings. Supposedly it might only be 240 watts RMS, which is a long way from the 500 watts my Orange Terror puts out. I'm not planning on diming the amp, but until I can get a little more info I'm going to stay wary.

Aside from buying some new bolts to hold the rubber feet on, this baby is ready to go. I'm a little bummed we didn't have practice today, but I've got the rest of my band dying to hear this thing.

Yeah 240-250 watts tops. If you ever decide to replace them the Legend B810 speakers are great higher wattage replacements.

So there's a hole on my pedal board, something mxr sized could fit there.

But I don't really need anything, so whatever I put there would be kind of unnecessary so I don't really know what to do.

Dare I leave open space on my board? I'm already spacing out pedals more than I used to...kept mashing all the pedals at once with them super close to each other.

You should get that new ehx klon clone and put it in there. One of us has to try it, my board is full so it can't be me. :p
