Snagged one of these of the classifieds for $35 today! I had a whirlwind selector, and never had a complaint... seems like a deal for something that's generally just good to have hanging around.

Manual [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]: Somebody make sure I've read this right.... That caution is stating NOT to plug a Tube head into this UNLESS there is a cab on it too. Right? Someone? Nick?

Having a read of some reviews it sounds like I should try and grab it for dooming out with rather than my Warlock...

I really shouldn't look at cool stuff for sale under the influence. Even though its pretty cool stuff...

Looks interesting. i wonder what freq the filter is set to?

I'm getting a Micro VR rig after Christmas. It's going to ****ing rule. If I find a second 210 cab, I'll snag that for the ultimate micro-rig of doom.

Yes. Yes you should. They are serious tonal monsters and not only are they heavy as hell, they SOUND heavy as hell.

I have mine strung in C Standard and it's perfect. I love playing around on the blues scale and writing stoner/doom riffs on it.

I'm going to e-mail whirlwind or call them tomorrow but it seems like it should handle tubes fine. I can't imagine them putting a caution if it couldn't handle them at all... and it seems to make sense... Converting a signal to send to the board will not load the head in the same way a speaker would is at all. Therefore, a head plugged into a DI w/o a speaker load could and likely would damage its self.

In other interesting news, the guy (kid) who used to live down the street from my parents - who I sold my first bass to stopped into my office tonight. Told me I could have it back if i wanted cause it's just sitting in storage somewhere... This should be interesting... maybe a new project. I believe it was a pretty cheapy washburn with a p pick up. Regardless it will be interesting to get my hands back on it.

What happened to your first bass?

I still have my first bass. A Peavey Fury II I got brand new when I was 14. It needs some work as of right now. The input jack is all wonky. Probably just needs a new solder. It's a great bass, though. Played it for years with no problems. I've thought about letting it go the last couple years but I always decide against it. I love it too much. :)

$300 for a fake Ric isn't bad. Plus it's a bolt on you could always turn it into a RickenFender.

RickenFender is actually a really good idea that I hadn't thought of. I've seen some pretty cool looking ones.

Yeah, I paid $550 for mine. At $1000 you might as well get a real one.

When I first started playing bass I had no idea what I was doing. Bought the Squier starter pack and just started playing tabs eventually I signed up to take lessons at a guitar store. Apparently my strings were like half an inch off the fret board and my neck was a banana. They tried to adjust it and the truss rod broke, so they gave me credit towards a new bass haha.
