Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread 29: "Please Huff Responsibly"

I'd run Bluebeard, El Oso, SS, RT, Tuner the vol

Mostly because having dirt pre and post phaser makes it more versatile

Actually the El Oso creates some weird effect if I run it in front of the phaser where low end signal passes through unmodulated, but the mids and highs get phased. I figured it out on accident but it is awesome.

Our drummer took a pic of us at practice last Tuesday and I'm wearing my Iron Heel shirt. They're a small band from Austria. The singer commented on the photo, saying I'm the only American with one of those shirts. Internet blows my mind sometimes. :bassist:

I feel like such an important part of music history, too :D

Just got done with a screaming practice with my Carvin B1500. Dudes, this thing was MADE for distortion and fuzz. I've had a lot of gear over the years, but I have seriously never experienced anything like what this SS monster brings to the table in combination with my fEARful 1212/6/1.

The Drive doesn't really do much, hence the reputation for being sterile, I guess. But fvking A, this head blasts the fuzz like nothing else I've ever heard!

Just the same way as there are certain dirt pedals that really only shine when you run them into an amp that's already breaking up, certain pedals that just kill into a clean amp. My DOD 250 hates dirty amps, it comes out sounding dark and fuzzy (some people like that). Into a loud clean amp, it's a roaring monster with a really growly high end.

and that's the awesome thing about this insanity...

Argh! I need money! Stop fueling my GAS fire, geez ;)

I feel like such a pedal noob.

I feel your pain, my GAS is getting ridiculous lately. At least I'm trying to sell the stuff I'm not using and I actually slowed my roll enough to buy strings, picks and other things I actually NEED. Last night I strap lock buttons on the last 3 instruments that didn't have them. Almost 2 years overdue on the Carvin.

You mean you don't have 14 fuzz pedals? Or Phase, Octave (up and down) , flange, ring mod, wah, pitch shift, chorus, filter, compression, delay ( digital, analog, and multi function) bypass strips, loopers, gold plated stuff, stereo stuff, feedback looper, midi controllers, and a tuner??

;)

Who here has shimmed a neck? What did you use? I've got a T-bird that could use some help.

Business cards. Material is unimportant. Here's a very excellent, noob-friendly guide on how to shim a neck. I've done it on a couple basses before, and my one Ibanez was actually shimmed from the factory (or at least that's what I assumed from the shim sized Ibanez sticker that I found in the neck pocket).

Yeah it's an Epiphone, haven't been playing it much because of this issue. I have a ******** of business cards with my old job title on them. Might as well use a couple of them.

Laz, thanks for the link it's very informative.

I'll probably give it a go after practice.

Thanks everybody!

Is this a good bass? Looks like vader played it

Also who wants dibs on this vat of fun?

Laz, what do you use your volume pedal for? muting or swells n stuff? Also was the Rat tail you got the one where the guy was selling his korg tuner and stuff too?

If that bass is in good shape $200 is great for a MIJ 80s Ibanez. That is from the late 80s so I've never played one so couldn't tell ya how it sounds.

I use the volume pedal to do gradual fade outs since its hard to turn both volume knobs on the Ric at the same time. Sometimes when fading out at the end of the song I'll use it to do some feedback swells and stuff.

And yeah, that's the one. Corey traded it to him and then he sent it to Ryan for the feedback mod.
