I've had LP's, SG's, and Flying V's. I now rock mainly fenders but still have my Epi Flying V w/ GFS mean90's tuned to drop B. LP's are really common but I've personally seen more SG's then LP's, I believe mainly due to the price differential. In my band right now we have one LP player, and one SG player, and our singer / guitarist mainly uses a Schecter but has an SG backup.

My recently purchased Epi Thunderbird also has a few intonation issues. I really hate the bridge on that thing. If I do end up modding it, I'll probably rout the neck pocket and go Squierbird on it.

My guitarist plays a Gibson V through an Orange Rockerverb 50/Orange 412. He gets some great tones out of that thing, but not quite the syrupy thickness you can get out of an LP.

I prefer the 27" scale fenders w/ humbuckers personally... but I think it's mainly due to the tone, you can't make a strat sound as thick and heavy as a LP. Totally different beasts, bolt on vs. set neck, floating bridge vs. fixed bridge, thin vs. thick body thickness, etc etc

I think it has to do with 3 octave scale vs two and a half. Fender is still what, 21 frets? and Gibson/almost every other brand that makes "their" guitar design, is 24 frets.

I want to see more teles in the Stoner world. I think the tone is to die for, especialyy with some fuzz. I think the dude from Fatso Jetson uses a tele.

No I don't think so. Still need to watch the damn documentary on them.

Speaking of, any suggestions on good music DVDs/documentaries for our genre? Obviously Such Hawks and Such Hounds and the Bobby biography exist. Any others? I'm thinking more in line with more modern bands, not just more stuff about Sabbath. Although anything from the 90s would be cool too.

What fender is 27"?

I think there is a lot more to it than that, a lot of people use SG's and they get massive sounds (electric Wizard for one). I bet a setup like keith richards tele downtuned would be pretty nice.
