Stoner/Doom Bassists thread 31: We never sleep

yea asshat musicians, not unusual. I do like new albums (witchcult/black masses), the expectations going into it are that its never going to be crushing like Dopethrone or Come My Fanatics but its more retro. If one gets past that i think its really good.

We Live I enjoy much better than Let Us Prey (although I love that album title)

this conan album monnos is ****ing awesome. will be purchasing.

Probably my favorite album of the year so far. It's just so thick and disgustingly heavy. I'm really bummed their US tour fell through, even though they probably wouldn't have come anywhere near me. "Caveman battle doom" has got to be the best tagline in the doom-biz.

I think the song "Golden Axe" could spawn an entirely new sub-genre of paleolithic spaghetti western metal.

I won't be getting a 7-pro, I have a nice preamp, but I'm just looking at a 1000W class D power amp. I was leery of class D for bass, but I'm exposed to a lot of the newer micro amps at work and a lot of them sound damn good. The constant thermal protection shutdowns from the p.o.s. power amp I bought pushed me over the edge. Nothing like rocking the **** out, nailing a song and having your amp cut out for 10-15 seconds. Everyone else stops and looks at you. Unacceptable.

Try a Peavey IPR. I used the 3000 with my Magma. Peavey even repaired it under warranty, no questions asked when my Magma blew it up. Feels "cheap" because its so damn light, but I never had any issues with it.

heavier than which previous stuff? I have been completely disappointed with everything after In Return, and the Floor stuff is also much better IMO than any newer stuff they put out

I really like Witchcult and Black Masses. Actually not a huge fan of Dopethrone, it gets old really fast for me....maybe because so many people copied it that it doesn't seem original anymore.

before i really broke into a lot of the stoner/doom/sludge stuff, dopethrone was one of the first albums I heard and it blew my mind so it holds a nostalgic place with me but I feel you on the copycats, there are quite a few
