That's why I warned you about Larry, and I'm glad to see that he's somewhat turned around. He's a damn good drummer if you can get him to focus on the band, and it seems like you guys have gotten him to do that.

I had a thought this morning on my ride into work. I used to be a play-music-because-you-love-it-never-sell-out kind of guy. But now I'm a I'm-going-to-be-playing-music-for-the-rest-of-my-life-anyway-so-it-would-be-cool-to-be-paid-to-do-it kind of guy.

I still won't go against my ethics or morals but I seem to have lost me fear/hatred of selling out.

Is that maturity or have I sold out?

I often think about what I would have done if I were in Green Day when they got their big break. They made a lot of enemies back in the day.

Maturity, as long as you maintain your ethics and morals. Our band has been discussing this quite a bit lately with all the attention we've been getting, and the events looming on the horizon. Here's the deal as long as you write music you enjoy, and don't write music your not 100% happy with JUST to sell records your not selling out.

Maturity!!!!!! I would rather play music out live doing covers with my friends then sitting in a basement listening to obscure albums sulking about days gone by. Plus its a nice extra source of income for gear. Plus having different styles of music warrants all kinds of fun gear. I wont use my cover rig for the stoner band but i love having both rigs and it opens the door to having more opportunities to play. Also i think myself and a select few have sold their souls, so to speak, to playing covers. If i didn't like doing it, i wouldn't do it. That is just a plain and simple fact. Do what you want to do and dont worry about what other people think. You cant please everybody.

I view music as a creative outlet, if I didn't have it my mind would have snapped by now. Come what may but I charge a lot per hour if I were going to do this full time ha ha

I think the only time selling out would be bad is if it involved leaving people behind who helped you get there.

Otherwise I don't really entirely get it, if you're playing music as a living it's a job. Is a chef a sell out if he owned a restaurant, then sold it to work at applebees for better pay? It's all about the money and nothing is wrong with that per se. I mean a band is a small business, and if you find the only way to grow that business is to play poppier music, you got to decide between keeping the business small, or taking the opportunity to grow.

Thanks for the genius quote lol, the mole is essentially an lpb-1 with a cap in it, that cap can be changed so I'm sure someone could show the appropriate cap for the freq, you want to boost. Also a mole is like $40 at the most.

Too get into this kind of debate successfully we would need to define what a universal definition of "selling out" is, everyone seems to define it differently.

it is only 40$ from what i've seen but at that point i might as well have nick build me a clean boost for my guitar board so i can put my clean / 250hz boost back on the bass board. I think i'd rather have something with alot more eq options and a used mxr 10 band can be had for 60-75$ for the extra 20-30 bucks why not. I think I'm going to try out the EMG BTC for the p-bass first, the bass works great right now with my superfuzz so as long as it will continue to play nicely and I'm able to boost the lows I'll be happy, then if that doesnt work im going back to passive and getting the EQ.

Whats funny is nick actually voiced against putting a FAC on my preamp / DI.... it kinda weirded me out for a sec... then he explained why and it made complete sense.
