Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread Part 11 - "Bath Time"

Budget is about $1000.

So, I don't want a head that's so powerful it can never get really overdriven, but I also don't want one too weak to keep up with a loud band. Plus I do really like the sounds of the T's, from what I've heard, though the vintage one I guess can't really get dirty without a pedal in front.

I'd go with a Mesa Express 5/50 head, with the high power, low power switch. Run it as a combo at 5 watts for recording, or run it through your cab at 50 watts for jamming/gigging.

I feel like if you have an amp with a master volume / pre gain then it won't really matter. I've started using "fender" type controls on my Jet City. Master all the way up, overdrive to set volume. it's beautiful.

Funk it this will do, I was down stairs A/B'n the RBM and the messdrive for the doom tone and the messdrive will do on the board. I was getting a good sound with the tone and gain rolled all off of the RBM. I decided to try the muff for guitar again, remembering I haven't even tried it since I got my new guitar. After some knob turning I got something I can work with. I still think I need a actual guitar cab to seal the deal. And this rig is LOUD!

WANT!

Well the other bass player uses the 810 with either my SVT or his Sunn 300T. I use the two 2x15's with my AD200B. I have used all of them before for a couple shows and he used two of my SVT 810's. We're opening for Jucifer in July so we might bust out the big set up again.

How awesome would it be to say, "Yeah, we out amped Jucifer."?

Wish I had another $600 to buy a couple more cabs.

I love those cabs. I like the 4-15" stack you got going. The finish is very pro.:D

Thanks. I had some practice restoring some cabs for friends. It takes a little time to get the hang of it.

I would love to say that we out amped them but I think it might be hard to do. I only have

7 8x10's , two 2x15's and two 4x12's :hmm:

We had a running joke going for a while at a club we used to play. Let's se how long it takes to blow the power? It would usually blow in about 10 sec. :D That was only with three amps.
