Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread Part 11 - "Bath Time"

I was going to give a nod to the NeoX series of Genz Benz. If you tried the GB and like it, what am I missing?
aguilar gs112. i had four that i would use in different combinations depending on what i needed. they were pretty cool with the tweeters off, but lacked the "chest punch" of 10's. they are great for finger funk type stuff.

Fear of blowing the 12T with my 9.0
I had my shuttle 6.0 for 3 days before I decided I HATED how sterile it sounded.
Haha nothing. I just like getting shelled for going light weight and then watching other people do it too
BTW lots of good things have been said about that Baer 112 (http://www.baeramps.com/ml-112-bass-cabinet.html) but I have no idea how much they cost.
So... you have to run the amp on 10? The 9.0 is what? 500 watts at 8 ohms? The 12T is 300 watts. Just don't turn up all the way. I know it's scary, but think about this. My Carvin cabs are only 400 watts (well, one of them is 500, but the other is 400). My amp puts 1000 watts bridged at 4 ohms. My cab handles it because I don't Spinal Tap the volume. You should be able to get similar results just by easing back on the volume knob. I say, find a Genz local and bring your 9.0 to try it with. Push it to gig volume and see if you can get there before the speaker farts. That's the only real way to know if a cab will have the volume you need.
Not sure of your knowlede base so excuse me if it's a little too laymen.

So, is there anything I need to watch out for if I use one bass and tune it between E standard and C back and forth? I'm playing with a 80's cover band during the week and then doing stoner/doom in C on the weekend. I end up switching back and forth at least every other day, sometimes every day in practice.
I'm using Chromes (mediums/105s I think) on a Squier Jaguar, and I like the versatility of the P/J pups and I'm really comfortable with the neck. I've considered setting up my deArmond Pilot for use in the 80's band, but I'm not really a fan of the 35" scale, active EQ, and the action on that bass. Is using one bass but moving between tunings frequently going to be an issue?
(Also, it strikes me as incredibly funny that I drive to Grass Lake to play stoner/doom music in the basement of a reverend's house.)

I understand what your saying. And I'm full aware of using my best judgement when it comes to volumes control. My 115 is 5or600w at 4ohms now. So I'm looking for something close to that in a light 112. I think 400w @ 4ohm may be the minimum rating I'm looking for to play it safe.
I always buy my Chromes from [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] because even after the discount from Jeremy I think after tax JS still ends up being a little cheaper.

You won't do anything that isn't fixable. Your intonation and neck bow might fluctuate, but after doing it for awhile if you find that you don't notice anything big enough that affects your playing ability, you'll likely be fine.

In my vast knowledge of cabs (believe me, I've looked at a lot), I know nothing that would meet your weight, power, and price requirements, available on the commercial market. I'm not saying it doesn't exist, I'm saying I know nothing like that with a 4 ohm load. I will be happy to try and help you find it. I like missions. Especially since I am GAS free at the moment. (I only want things, don't NEED them

A sound guy, once, was bitching after he asked me how old my strings were and I told him I couldn't remember when I bought them. They were chromes.
They had to have been well over 18 months old when I broke one on stage.
Pretty sure some players that use flats will use them for 10-20 years. I've never actually broken a string. I doubt I'll ever change them unless one actually breaks. I have 3 sets and I've lost track of how old each set is.
