It's just marketing. While manufacturers have listed values for peak power, the only wattage value that matter is RMS wattage ratings. And even those can be exaggerated. Only way to know is to check Xmax limits.

It's just marketing. While manufacturers have listed values for peak power, the only wattage value that matter is RMS wattage ratings. And even those can be exaggerated. Only way to know is to check Xmax limits.
I mean, I get it, but I feel like if you're going to market something, if someone might accidentally blow it up, that you should be clear about it.
I.e. if you ran it with a SVT7PRO, it would explode, probably, eventually.

That's why Behringer had so many complaints. You can't advertise peak power and then deny warranty claims on blown speakers (they don't do this anymore).
I agree, it makes no sense for a company to advertise a rating that you may never reach under normal use. But, it's whatever moves product, unfortunately.
Got my reissue of Dopesmoker. Sounds awesome. I am going to have to listen to the other version that I have to see what the differences are.

I think the real fault is with GC, advertising it as 500w.. which isn't surprising.

The bass I use for doom is a cheap Peavey. With a proper setup and some mods, it plays and sounds great.
sTime to catch up, got lost in the real world for once and not TB world...schools out, weather's nice, the grass is green and stanky.
I've work in AC'd cubes and in construction; I was repairing manhole covers this past week. And I gotta say as comfy as the climate is, I hate sitting in a square.

I OWN A PAIR OF BLUE BOAT SHOES, they're cool hip and cool colored.
Speaking of the anti-DOOM lightweight stuff, I was at my LMS and tried out one of the Mesa Walkabout 1x12 combos, super light, super warm sounding. Played a Squier CV P through it and that whole setup slayed. From deep bass to trebly clank, that amp did it all. I believe all the hype TB has given it.
Still no sale on the B2R, may resort to just trading it in like I normally do if something doesnt sell right fast. But I really dont want to, because then I get less for it...But I really need a more practical practice/jam with others rig. At the moment, if I'm not at band practice, I play my basses unplugged, not very DOOM.
Also, I'm starting to think that Brave Ulysses may not go anywhere. I love the music, guys are really nice, we all click musically, the jams are better than sex...but we haven't progressed anywhere since I joined and learned the songs, besides moving to a new place. We first said, we wanted to be done recording and getting our stuff out there by beginning of May. It's the end of May and we still haven't written a single word, all we have left is lyrics, that's it. We aren't even planning on having a lot of super complex lyrics, just some simple lines. And we still dont know who is going to sing or if any of us can sing and play. I'm not a lyricist nor a singer, never have been in any of my prior projects, so I havent contributed any lyrics/ideas either. Personally, I think we should just go instrumental, the riffs are good enough to stand alone with out lyrics, and we can always add lyrics later on if we write some. Not to be yanking my own chain but we are too good for no one to hear us. I've brought up the idea of going instrumental or bringing in a singer/outside lyricist, but I get shut down because they are set with us as a 3 piece and they keep saying we'll write lyrics. I want to be out playing shows, melting faces, bringing the DOOM but I'm stuck in a really cool motorcycle shop. We've only been playing together for a little over 2 months, so that's not that long but I dont want to still be in there jamming and playing through our set the millionth time when summer ends. I'm starting to feel like that might happen at this rate...

I'm not a huge fan of instrumental music, but Monobrow sure as **** makes it work! Then again Sam is probably one of the best bassists on these boards (imo of course, he ****ing rips!) so that makes it easy to listen to.
Buy my Peavey Foundation S. Inexpensive and great sounding, and great playing. I'm paring down to one bass, and it's the last one to sell.
I've played metal, rock, country, blues with it and it sounds great for all of those genres.

And in case anyone doesn't know, Monobrow was never meant to be an instrumental band we just never found a singer and decided we still wanted to record. Luckily people liked it but to be honest I don't think an instrumental band can compete with a band that has a strong frontman...think Clutch. There is something about the human voice that can capture an audience like no other instrument.

Just got this in the post today. It's a 1978 Kramer Fretless 450B. It's seriously the most well crafted instrument I have ever played in my life. Paired with a Verellen Big Spider, I don't think I'll need much else.
