15/6/1's are great, but the TB153 not so much for doom or anything with fuzz/OD. the mid just can't handle it.

I think a lot of guys are getting sick and tired of fEARful users bringing that cab up. But the Dually's are seriously worth looking at.

What gets over-looked a lot is that, when you peal away the science and techno-geek stuff that goes along with Greenboy designs, at his heart he's pretty much a distortion/fuzz fanatic who likes things loud and brutal.

the Duallys and Basics are truly old-school cabs with lighter material and more bracing and good speakers. That's it. I'll be gigging one sometime in June when I share a backline.

In the meantime, I can one-hand carry my 1212/6/1, and they only way I can get more volume would be to get a 1515/66 or an 810. Mesa, of course

How much are you looking to spend? If you are trying to stay on the cheap side, I bet a Hartke Hydrive would be solid.

My girlfriend plays through a Hydrive 4x10. It weighs barely anything and sounds totally decent. It's not as bassy or deep sounding as my Eden 4x10 but then again it's less than half the weight (my cab is 98 lbs) and about half as deep.

I've gigged with it more than once and have nothing bad to say about it though.




Speaking of cabs, I've been planning on getting another over the next several months. I currently have an Eden 410XLT and was planning on getting a second, matching one. Now I'm thinking of getting the Eden 212XLT. Yeahyeah mismatched whatever. I like what I've heard from the various 2x12s I've played and think it would match up well for me.

i had a schroeder 1515 and a 1212. they were both the folded horn style. they were cool, but i didn't like the way they handled distortion. i was actually scouting the carvin 15's lately- i like your idea of using two of those. really, i need to buy speakers more than anything... two blown 10's on one of my 810's and i have another cab that could use some new speakers too.

That was my original concern, running fuzz on these modern cabs. Comparing all new sub $300 cabs, Carvin is the winner. Watt to watt, features, styling, Carvin was my choice. Plus, if you cruise the ebay store, they will run deals once in awhile on returned stuff. Scored my first 1-15" for a hair over $200 shipped.

man, I've been through a million cabs, pairing many, many different combinations... 2x15, 1x12 (times 4), 2x12, 4x10, and 2x10. for me, nothing cuts it with a band the way big amps do, especially 810's driven by big tubes, especially if you like dirt.
those little amps always sound great in the store, but they just don't do it for me in live.

...that said, i'd be lying if i didn't admit to wanting a little class D for basement jams to go with some of my smaller cabs.
