Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread Part 28: Chicken Pot Pie

So, even though I have my preamp, I'm still waiting to play it. The thing has a weird power supply that I can't find anywhere, and the one I got with it doesn't work. But a new one is on the way, should be here mid next week.

Also, I dont know why I just thought about him, but what ever happened to Cosmicpimp2? He hasn't posted since I came back indoors from summer...TB is my hibernation cave

If anyone here is interested in an 8 string octave course, I'm thinking about selling my Dean Rhapsody 8 to fund some purchases. I'm liquidating some of my pedals I've replaced now too, like my black russian muff and modded nyc reissue. Might have my CL sold at last, to a friend locally. I'm hoping I can get enough together to finish my pedalboard setup and make a bunch of unglamorous utility purchases.

It's a clear acrylic kit made by a company called Fibes. They're called Crystalites. Kinda reminiscent of Ludwig Vistalites. Some people say that they're better. They sound awesome. Sizes are 12/16/22 with a 14x6" Mapex hand hammered steel snare. A beast in its own right. For cymbals I've got 15" Sabian AAX-celerator hi-hats, 17" AA medium thin crash, 18" AA rock crash and 21" AAX raw bell dry ride. That set just kills.

Actually, here's a short clip that I made with my phone (so ****** quality haha) shortly after getting it: http://youtu.be/rC-7g3lJ2IQ

Nice kit! I'm pretty horrible at drums, but I see no reason to not keep trying. I want to keep a very small kit, like two floor tom sizes,Snare and this crash that works well as a ride, a HH and this cheap washy ride. Instead of a bass drum I want to make a piezo pad out of a hockey puck on a stick. flat and compact but still full.

Is the supply coming from Russia too?

It's been a long time since I used it. I replaced it with my Triangle Muff clone a long time ago, but I used to run it into my Sound City, with the gain and tone around 11 o'clock, I think. It's been a few years since I used it on a regular basis. The NYC muff even longer, I actually had been letting a friend borrow for a long time. He just gave it back to me when he moved. I actually like the usa muffs a little better for bass, although that seems to be a minority opinion and there's a lot variation between models. The russian ones do seem a little less compressed and stuffy sounding than the newer US ones. I don't tend to like them with the gain up really high, since they get kind of squishy in their response. Sometimes I like to use them with the gain pretty low and the tone up, to get something just a bit more fuzzy than an overdrive, but it really depends on the amp and the context quite a bit. Something about muffs, to my ears, different amps take them completely differently. I've had some where they sounded great, some where they sounded like crap.

Still never tried an american muff, saw a black muff the same day I read about em and grabbed it, with my chorus pedal. Once I use the fuzz with my windsor, I can drop the gain, and stage it into my amp with a Bad monkey and Mole at unity with each other so I could set the monkey as a treble booster and the mole as well a mole.

WINNER!!!!

Congratz man!

Hey guys I am looking for a sub and fuzz combination. Inspired by Juan alderete video I guess. He is using an ampeg sub blaster and Fairfield circuity. Any idea or re commendation for the combi? Btw thanks for the guy who refer me to this thread.

Stupid Diablo 2 expansion keeps getting errors. Why isn't windows 7 smart enough to figure out what compatibility it needs to be in to run old games...?

In other doom news, my back may last for my vacation. The cortizone seems to have helped a little. But the Doctor says come back in another 2 and a half weeks for the follow up. (more shots)

So glad I have the Carvin.
