OK, I'll probably order one soon. Its not that I don't think it WON'T do anything, just that I don't think I have as good of an ear as some of you guys.
So, do any of you guys have stained wood (Emperor-like) cabs? I'm curious how the finish on those holds up. I love the way they look, but as I'm starting to get estimates on how much a custom cab would set me back, I'm a little wary of putting $1500 into a piece of gear that's going to look like crap in 5 years.
I know there's at least a few Emperor cabs in this thread. Think OldCrow still uses a wood stained Verellan cab on guitar.
That's the nice thing about Duratex. Super easy to do your own touch ups and make the cab look new again.

Post-gig coffee is damn good.
My back is killing me, but that has more to do with being almost 50 and way out of shape. Weird vibe at the gig. Small college-type bar. The kids were definitely on something other than alcohol. The lesbian-themed dirty dancing and crotch rubbing indicated strong doses of extacy. But what do I know, I'm just an unemployed drug counselor...
I bought a Carvin B1500, and the guy I got it from was right- this beast actually KILLS the Mesa M9. I don't think I've ever, ever experienced that kind of smooth, clear and articulate low-end before. Risky move using a new amp at a gig that I've never even practiced with, but that B1500 was effortless. Flat, it was darn near perfect.
Any of you guys use or consider using one of these? Mt first impressions is that it's the most powerful bass head I've ever used. A true beast!

I think stained wood "ages" better than tolex, told will rip and you'll have that sharp contrast of bare wood and black tolex, where as the stained wood will chip here and there, like a tolexed cab, but over all I'd say it takes abuse better.

Not sure how much of a market is left for these amps. class d is taking over. i read that mesa has discontinued their mpulse 600. no one wants an SS head that weighs more than 20lbs anymore.
One dudes sterile is another dudes transparent. There really is nothing sterile about smooth, massive lows and tasteful mids with a bit of growl, at least not to me.
I ran the BDDI in front for dirt. Playing around with it at home, and the DRIVE certainly brings in the harmonics/distortion, just shy of what the BDDI does. I prefer to use a pedal for dirt, so I have a quick option for clean.
Yeah, I've used a lot of class D, including 2 Crown XLS and the Genz Shuttlemax 12. But there is something to the old 'lead sled' topology. Yeah, it's a heavy mother, but good gawd this head brings some serious thunder.
Oh, and it plays with fuzz very nicely

Until I got the M9 in July, I would have argued that. Now that I have the B1500 replacing the M9, I finally get it.
I do think the Shuttlemax series are fantastic regardless of topology, but at moderate volume the Carvin was thumping my chest. It had a heft to it that is hard to describe.
I've owned two high powered Class D amps and they didn't sound any different than the heavy ones.
Man, new pics and new sound clips are starting to get me excited here. We had a random guy come up to us from the practice building and be like, hey, you guys sound badass. When are you playing your next show? We were like, um...we just started. So the dude wants us to open for his band and another band in town. Crazy. I never have been approached like that before. We may not have face melting guitar solos, or Geezer-esque bass lines, but some people out there like us. I don't know how to react. I was writing these songs for me, not other people 
kinda but the pink floyd intro a little, but it gets different enough to like it as a seperate band.

the el oso is my staple tone now, running it through tubes is absolutely crushing - i run it exactly half and half, full gain and level in unity with my clean signal. w/ chrome flats it is beautiful. it sounds to me like the quintessential stoner tone with a ric!
running it with the mini-mu behind it is so fantastic as well - half clean envelope and half dirty envelope sounds come through mixed together and it sounds huge for certain fills in songs.
waiting on a bluebeard for a more sludge fuzz sound for some of our faster, more mastodon riffs and heavier passages that need that saturation, an hpf-pre to tidy some things up, and i'm board-satisfied for the time being. my main GAS involves getting MORE POWER TUBES though - trying to get a 200 watt head on a budget is a mission.

Glad to hear you like it, Niff. I love my Oso so much. Even with an opposite rig from yours, SS/tube, jazz, nickles.

How are you liking the 100 watt head niff? I still haven't gotten to use mine, but will soon.
Granted I don't think mine will ever be truly "clean" even if I tried, how loud does it go? Keep up with just the 2x15?

Maybe because 99% of users are playing it super clean, but I didn't think it did much grit
