Once, in a record store in Santa Cruz, I saw a band's EP that was a DAT shrink wrapped in a baby shoe. When I say "once", I mean it was on a shelf for sale for 5 years.
I could see sending those custom wood boxes with nice press kits to a few major labels (if your band gets to that point), but why be so hipster on your packaging that no one can even listen to it? I mean, c'mon... a floppy disk? Why don't we just go back to 8-tracks?
