Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread Part 82: Comfortable with Derision

Yeah, the amp weighs more than the cabs combined by 10 pounds...

Man I swapped the Bassic in the spot I had the Yorkville 115, man I thought the Yorkville was light till I carried the Bassic in the house, and picked up the Yorkville lol, I was like no Joe you need to put a little more of that fat arse in to it.
New dilemma, not so thrilled with the Blue Tube and the Yammy power amp, just not feeling it, haven't been for a little while now. I had a bigger grin playing the Bassic pushed by my Fender Champion 600 with guitar and bass than I did with the Blue Tube/Yammy Power Amp combo, thought it was fun watching the Bassic just kind of laugh at the Yammy when I would keep turning up the volume, lol. It was like the Bassic was saying nope that's not the g-spot, you got a longer finger Yammy?

Yeah the disconnect between tube preamp and SS poweramp often leaves tone on the table.
Sometimes you just have to roll through a few preamps to find the one that clicks.
Any specifics you can add to the dissatisfaction?

I can't quite get my finger on it more than the disconnect like you mentioned. Of course the tube power amp shimmer is nowhere to be had, but I don't feel the raw power like I did with the GK MB500 either, though I am only running one side of the power amp, not stereo or bridged yet. I will an try and bond some more with and probably take the Bassic with me to some shops to hear some different heads through it.
I probably just needs one of dem dere Craigslist Peaveys lol.

My SWR IOD, is really awesome plugged straight into a cab, its killer. Sweet touch responsive lofi gooey. If you go through a poweramp it loses something. Some of the compression, the immediacy of response, but it seems to get more hifi too. Hard to explain but I think modified it could be better.

I think for shitz and giggles I am going to play the blue tube preamp through my good headphones or see if I can rig it up to my stereo Adcom GFA-535 power amp and in to my JBL830s. Got a feeling the Yammy is just Meh!!! But I got it in a trade I only had $150 in and got the blue tube off ebay for $120, so if they sail on, not a big deal.
