Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread Part 82: Comfortable with Derision

Hey Guys, do I recall that lots of you use an el Oso for low gain? I'm looking for an "always on" sort of pedal, and seem to recall lots of you guys using/liking the el Oso for that. Clips I've seen make it sound a little too...buzzy at high gain settings. Thoughts? Also, any experience between the Bluebeard and Greystache? Sounds like the Stache can get more middy and modern, whilst the Bluebeard is more huge and traditional. I'm very impatient, is the GGG Muff really nearly identical to a bluebeard? I don't think I could wait months/years for a Bluebeard from Sonny. :( And last but not least, Will the Bluebeard murder my Green Russian Bubble Font Muff?

I traded with Locopeland not to long ago and picked up his El Oso. I like it quite a bit, especially at the low gain settings like you mentioned. Oddly enough, I used it on a couple tracks for a pal who was doing some solo indy-type stuff. I liked that hint of mild OD and could see it as an "always on" in certain situations.

Been wanting to check out that EQD myself

Doesn't jack up your volume as you turn the knob, and just pushes your instrument presence out there stronger, doesn't flavor the tone, just that pushed tube sound. Guess it hasn't gone on to bass players yet. I knew I would like it on guitar, but was a nice thrill when I tried it with bass, I love dual-purpose pedals!

Saw that last night, he must be doing something wrong. Maybe his amp is slowing dying or he has a bad cable or something. OR maybe he's got a smiley face EQ situation going on.

are the fearfuls super mid heavy or something? with the low end being preached id think even scooped youd have a ton of deep lows, even if he was missing some of the punch that the low mids have.

and btw, 800 seems like a stupid steal for those cabs doesnt it?

A buddy of mine in Nashville is an endorser...will ask him if I can borrow one to try. My new Reiner/JGR 6SL7 pre just came in today (I've been borrowing the proto in the meantime). Been pretty happy with that for my 'always on' tone :)

Do it!!! Just saw a used one at the North Portland Guitar Center for $69 bucks.
You should tell him to send you over The Depths for a proper diddling too.
BTW Mark, sometimes I just walk in the room with the Bassic to just stare at it, I'm smitten I tell ya, smitten!!!

No idea, I don't have any personal experience with them. But, I've heard nothing but good things about them. Even if everyone was exaggerating wildly (not that I think anyone is), dude should still be able to be heard.

I have a feeling there wasn't much troubleshooting going on.

That was the drunken-haze order, right? I probably would have cancelled too.

Not drunk, high.

Those are gorgeous, put Dear Datassian!!! I am never considering anything I purchase ever again to be expensive!!! jk, lol.
Man it has been ages since I had swig of Bushmills.

In the world of hi-fi that's not expensive. :D

My 6 year old saw the two big ports on the Bassic, and he looked at me all serious and said is there something in there?
I told him there are sharp pieces of metal that are so sharp they can cut his fingers off. I didn't want him fisting my Bassic, lol, but he sure made me laugh.

Sending out a Doom-filled Lord Datassian Prayer for Jmac Jerimy, he just told me he is at the Emergency Room with possible appendicitus!!!

Thanks Bro! I guess, I'm still alive for now. No definitive answer as to the cause of the problem as of yet. Only thing that they found was some funky stuff going on with My liver, but I was already pretty aware of that.
