Not sure if it was this thread or the parallel thread, but we were talking about T-40s and finishes a couple days ago. Took me a bit to dig up some shots, but mine's below. I love all finishes on T-40s, but natty's still my favorite.

Asked the Amps forum for advice on my issues regarding the Hartke and fEARful stack (I blew a voice coil somehow)...

Ok guys, is like to get your thoughts. We got offered a gig but man they're asking a lot. I wrote a response but haven't sent it yet. Here it be:

Thank you for your interest in playing at the Houston Marathon. I apologize for my delayed reply. I have been out of town and just came back to find my out of office notice was not working. My apologies! ******** will take place on Sunday, January 19, 2014 on the full and half marathon courses. I’ve attached our course map. A combined 25,000 runners participate in the two races, plus numerous spectators!
We ask that the bands play as long as runners are passing through your area. Playing time will depend on where the band is located on the course. ******** bands located between Miles 1 and 13 will begin setting up at 6:00 AM and play until the last runner passes, this will be around 9:30 AM. ******** bands located between Miles 14-26 will begin set up at 7:00 AM and again play until the last runner passes their location, this will be 1:00 PM at the latest.
Bands must provide their own instruments, sound equipment, etc. If you require a generator, we will reserve one for you from Sun Belt Rentals, however you are responsible for pickup and its return. The Houston Marathon Committee will cover the cost of the generator rental.
We appreciate the donation of time that each ******* group provides to entertain the runners and spectators throughout the course. ******** will be vying for the 2014 Entertainer of the Year, voted on by runners. Winners will receive a cash prize. We give a $100 stipend as a small thank you to each participating ******** station.
My response:
Wow. After sharing the details with the band, we decided we won't be able to do this after all.
Some thoughts: In order to be playing at 6 am we'd have to be up and loading equipment at 4 am. Playing off generator power can be dangerous for equipment without good power conditioners/surge protectors. Not to mention we have to pick it up. Also 3-4 hrs is a long time to play especially in the cold. It sounds like there will be no heaters or shelter... You're just asking for ALOT of time and effort for free basically. If you had a stage set up, with someone running sound, power, and some kind of heat (frozen fingers don't move very well) that would be a different story. Then we could just bring our backline (music lingo for amps and instruments) set up and play. It sounds like who ever put this together made no budget for music. You're putting it all on the bands. That's not cool. I'm sure you'll find some really hungry bands to play but you guys have pretty much guaranteed you won't have any serious bands.

Wow man, I LOVE your response. It probably won't change anything, but someone has to stick up for musicians. You never know though...they might appreciate your insight and will make it better for the bands next year.
That's a stinker gig. I'm surprised you didn't get the outright "but it's great exposure" line. 25,000 marathon runners don't give a fugg about the bands on the course when they're at mile 16. A huge percentage of them will have in-ear headphones. Good call on passing.
+1 all the way... I'm glad you discussed how sure, some other bands may still be willing to participate, but unlikely that any serious or good bands would.
Heck my old band played a BBQ one time, those guys spent an entire day building us a covered stage out of plywood.
George I should be paying for the dually today and there's a tentative build schedule ending near late jan/early feb, just a heads up of when abouts it would actually start to exist.
