Isn't your hartke not functioning properly?
I know you were having issues with overheating a couple weeks ago....using an amp with something wrong with it could potentially damage your cabs/speakers.
I'm in a chicken - egg scenario... I was adviced that if the speaker was on its way out (if the voice coil was dragging but not froze) it would still produce sound, but would put an uneven load on the amp, which could lead to overheating. Which would lead me to believe the amp issues could have been a red herring, actually caused by the speaker.
The only reason I'm leaning towards this is because the cabs were daisychained, and the cab at the END of the chain is the one that died. The cab in the middle kept running strong.
Quite a conundrum. Ron if you want to offload your Sunn, by all means go for it... I dont think I'm going to have liquid cash for awhile, and I'm invested enough now that any $$ I have needs to go into fixing my current rig, before I think of another amp.
Any suggestions from the team? Think I should test the Hartke on the 2x15 and see what happens? Worst case scenario, either the amp overheats or my speakers explode, those speakers were ~$40 each so it'd cost about as much to prove the amp HAS a problem as it would to take it to a tech and prove it DOESN'T have a problem. I'm hesitant to take it to a tech who tells me they see nothing wrong, and I'm just $100 poorer but in the same situation, not knowing where exactly the problem is.
