Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread Part 82: Comfortable with Derision

After playing the Hartke again for an extended period into my 2x15 and playing with different effects, I am continually amazed at how good this amp sounds. Especially with tone-shaping effects.

Yeah, me too. I don't think it's possible to make that amp sound bad. It loves fuzz and dirt pedals too which is obviously a plus for me.

I really enjoy the simplicity of it, too. I get carried away when there's too many knobs and switches.

Lol I was just researching those Valvekings this morning lol. The attenuator on the back looks pretty useful too. The new model has a 100w, 25 watt, and 5 watt switch. And only like 40 lbs.

I have a valve king 100 as a backup and really like it (Other Guitar amps are a 6505+ and Crate Blue Voodoo) I use the clean channel and run a metal muff w/ top boost into it and use an EQ in the FX loop. Guitars are a Kramer SG and Epiphone Les Paul Custom tuned to C Standard. Cabs are peavey 5150's.

It's been California cold all weekend and this morning, which I'm sure is just like late autumn for the rest of you outside desert climates. Cold enough to make me remember I don't have a heavy jacket that fits anymore. The wife and I went to the Monterey Bay Aquarium yesterday, because it was free for county residents this weekend. I haven't been there since I was in junior high probably, so it was mildly entertaining.

I didn't really succeed in my goal last week of writing and recording a song a day while off work, but I did get three done. I tried to pick it back up at the end of the week, but just ended up spinning my wheels and not coming up with anything I liked. The wife pointed out that she thought writing 3 songs in a week was pretty productive. Hard to argue with, but I was shooting for 5 minimum. Oh well, I'll see if I can do 2 or 3 this week too. Maybe by the new year I'll have enough new material to start working on a solo album.

Here's the songs I came up with last week (posted them individually already before):

The hard part is going to be coming up with lyrics and vocals. It's been a while for me with that, last band I sang in broke up after 5 years because I just flat out ran out of ideas for lyrics and wasn't interested in doing vocals anymore.
