Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

The guy doesn't seem that motivated to sell. I emailed him back and asked if I could come over after work to check it out and he responded something to the effect of "I have people coming over tonight, but I'll be around early tomorrow morning". I was ready to grab some cash and drive straight over there after work, I'm not that motivated to drive an hour away on a Saturday morning without so much as a picture of the bass first though.
Corey - Good luck on the bass, I'd give the dude another chance - sounds like a reasonable excuse to me.
Bryce - My wife and I are both bone collectors, we find a lot of bones on our forest property, not sure what to do with them all, but we have a pretty good collection going.

Hey, he could tell me he has to take a really huge dump and needs private time, that's fine. I just have the evening free, because my wife is going to a get together with the kid, where as my Saturday mornings aren't very free at all.
I make mobiles to hang and my ultimate goal as my collection grows is to make skeletons out of very different animals. I want to have the only deeryote etc.

I ordered two beers and me and my friend got completely different beers than ordered. Problem is they are goddamn delicious and we'll never have them again.
Just spent some quality time on the ATK700 with the VTRM/power amp/bag end stack... Finally starting to get the feel for this preamp. Little adjustments make such a wide change in over all tone. Especially the first three knobs.
There's been discussion on TB about how great the old GK (400RB, 800RB) heads sound when cranked, and there's now pedal designs out there… but for less than the price of a boutique pedal, you could have this bad boy. It's sounds beffe and it's unspensive!!!

Went out last night on a belly of ramen and I got a ride from the bar to my friends house with the intention of a ride back. Forgot about that and everyone left and new people came by. These new arrivals were increda-dumb, so I couldn't say anything. So I called my friend to come get me to no avail. My friend whose house I was at gave me his car keys and I drove his incredibly poopy '97 eclipse (I call it the T-34) with disabled power steering and perpetual mechanical noise.
Make it home and pass out. Well at some point someone started raining down blows on my door and woke me, but I just had a demon threat so to hell with getting up. It doesn't stop, then my door opens and I hear multiple footsteps. I'm so drunk there's no nerves, but I'm absolutely motionless like a opossum. Thankfully I sleep under several blankets and put pillows and blankets over my head to limit light exposure. So I could hear the muffled search get closer. They get to my room and I hear it's my damn friends looking for me... They thought I'd not made It I guess and went on a hunt. Well they couldn't see me in my blanket fortress and were concerned so they were like right over me looking at the pile. I said "I'm right here..." And they freaked the funk out lol, said good and ran outta there.

Should have never sold my first one I bought new. It was ripped off from the friend I sold it to. 400RB and a pair of JBL E140 are a lethal, open and loud combination.
Alright gentlemen, might be picking up a guitar soon. I've got dirt covered as my bass board is also guitar friendly (and I've tested it on a buddy's board - no concerns there!), but I'll likely need an amp at some point. Nothing fancy, nothing expensive, so I'm thinking used Peavey. Anything I should look for/avoid? I'm hoping to stay under $200 for the rig. Combo or separate amp/cab are both fine. Just needing input. Thanks guys!
If you can find a Peavey VTM 120, buy it. They go for $200-300 all the time, they're super loud, very tonally flexible and can do clean or distorted, have a preamp out/power amp in and are really durable and reliable.
Got my two 4x10 columns and series 400 head for around or slightly over $200. Here's some peavey stuff in your range. There's actually a ton of good oeavet stuff where you are, a wee bit over priced, so search under peavey and start making offers. Most seem to be $250-$300 so make them come down, listings are old or cloned and repeated.

Another excellent Vega show last night. Other bands were good too, Grotto is ex members of Bongzilla and Cuda - piles of Orange and Sunn - LOUD as hell, pretty damn awesome. Another new local stoner/noise rock band Cold Black River opened up, they were pretty awesome too. Stayed out too late, drank too many cheap beers. Now trying to grind through some Algebra. Fun stuff.
Pulled the trigger on that Ibanez Roadstar.
