As pro-Mesa as I am, kinda weird to recommend their stuff in a general "power amp recommendations" thread. Unless tube is specified, I'd tend to think of more the bigger solid state ones.

So, last night at rehearsal, my bandmates were like "maybe you should have more low end in your sound," and "maybe you should use a GK head."
Naturally, I was polite, but I don't think I'll be doing either of those things.

From what I recall, more low-end would be a whole rig-vasectomy.
I have my low knob between 4 and 5, my highs knob at 1-2, and my mids at 10.
My amp has a Fender tone stack on the rotary controls, so I'm already boosting lows a fair bit.
I was referring to you mid-happy cabs and the fact Mesa doesn't believe in wattage below 100Hz.
Oh, the 2000S with EVs and the D-180? Yeah, it is a pretty mid-rangey rig.
But, quite frankly, I'm not sure I really believe in wattage below 100hz, either. Or, not that far below it. I have no desire to duke it out with the drummer's kick drum, which in our case, is very loud.

It's inner ear for sure, so I've been hitting it with nasal spray decongestant. Hope this clears soon, really don't want a Dr trip.

I love subs even on a4 string. Eventually I'll whip up a parts-piezo build for real fundamental.
Subs is as fickle as woman though(not that there's anything wrong with that).
So hard to reproduce consistently, and costly to do at volume.
At some point it just turns into a dull rumble.
Who needs that. Have been dialing in the VTRM rig lately. Have kicked back the bass on the SVT settings and upped midrange a bit.
Tomorrow I'm going to kick the HPF up some more at practice. May not have two guitars to compete with so well see.

I agree with the general ideas on TB-land in some subjects, and disagree in others (apparently on the subjects of rehearsal volume and individual speaker grills).
If I played in a drummerless Sunn O)))-esque band, then I'd have a lot more use for the sub frequencies, but being in a band with both drums and keys... eh, it's not worth fighting that battle.

I missed out on the univox. Bummer. Guess I'll just have to *deal* with the 2000s as my tube option. Could be worse.
On that note; a stupid question:
I know they make attenuators for guitar heads that go between head and cab, but do they make such a device for bass? Would it make a difference between the two?
I'd like to crank my 2000s in my 2nd floor apartment but still have it at a low volume so as not to deal with the (unwanted) fuzz.

There is functionally no real difference between a guitar amplifier and a bass amplifier, aside from the latter having more power, on average.
That said, for the 2000S, it would be best to use a 200 watt attenuator, if you were going to use one.
??? The point of the attenuator is to get amp dirt/distortion at low volumes. If you want clean sound their isn't any reason to use one
I thought that 'unwanted fuzz' referred to the police.

Entering a legit studio in April to record a legit album. I'm quite pumped. We've been working on these songs on and off for a few years. It'll feel quite good to get them down on tape.
