??? The point of the attenuator is to get amp dirt/distortion at low volumes. If you want clean sound their isn't any reason to use one

The 2000s has a bright-capacitor across the volume pot. At low volume knob settings, there will be a treble emphasis. Another reason to use an attenuator would be able to turn the volume up higher for a less-trebly sound. But you could just as well turn down the level going INTO the amp (on your bass or, say, your last pedal in the chain), and crank the amp volume up higher. Or swap out the cap with a lower-value capacitor, or remove it entirely. But maybe you don't want to mod a vintage amp

I know they make attenuators for guitar heads that go between head and cab, but do they make such a device for bass? Would it make a difference between the two?

I have one for my CTM-30 - but they get expensive once you get up above 50 watts. Here's what I have, bought one for the guitard too :

I live in the sub zone. In Vega thats all i got, my guitarust runs a guitar stack and a bass stack essentially, theres really no cutting through his tone so I just pummel with low end. Thats why its been a tough time finding the simplest and best way to reproduce that in a rig. I think ive found it.

Dudes, I'm putting together a new Jazz bass. Looking for pickups. Thoughts? I play doom in B standard, and love mids. My first thoughts were the SD "Hot" Jazz, as it's got a 4/6/4 tone profile. I've got a P Quarter Pounder in a different bass that I like, but the jazz quarter pounder tone profile shows scooped, not enhanced mids. Thoughts?

Body: Black Korina on Black Korina, Gotoh 201 bridge, rosewood control plate, Cocobolo knobs.
Neck: Wenge with Macassar Ebony FB, hipshot tuners

No, I have a big pumpkin head. I had to swear of ball caps after years of trying to pull it off, now I just wear beanies when it's cold out. That's one of the things I was relieved about when our son was born, he didn't inherit my family's blockhead.

Yeah? I have some custom wound pickups that are basically Model J clones with a bit more output (~8.5k). Made by bullock pickups. They just seem to have much lower output than the quarter pounder (12.5k). I know high impedance often means more scoop, but the SD "Hot" is pretty "hot" (15.5/16k) as well as not scooped (4/6/4). Maybe I'll just try to the custom pickups in this. I ordered covers for them from Mojotone, but the neck cover doesn't fit the neck route. Ears are spaced too far apart. Dammit!
