There are so many amps available from each output. So if the daisy chain is over extended you should see that in lack of performance from the pedal and not a grounding issue. However it depends on if the ground is extended through the entire chain or just to the first pedal. I have a few of the voodoo splitter and have to be sure to connect them to pedals next to each other. Since one lead is grounded and the other isn't.

I'm wondering if I can make some sort of stage persona around a chainsaw themed bass and one of them hardhat/facescreen/earmuffs lumberjack things - I wouldn't need the chickenwire out front anymore either ;) .

Looking at a couple options. The Westone in ear monitors are out forking outrageously expensive. But for a performing musician on a large stage I could understand.
In small clubs and practice I just need a dB filter and hope 25dB will not be too much. There are some cheaper that are 20dB that I'll probably try first before going to custom land. At least with the customs you can flip filters for 10dB, 16dB or 25dB.

OK, dumb question, but better safe than sorry, I figure. I'm aware that tube amps NEED a load, or else you'll fry them. SS amps don't. At least that's correct for bass. So, I'm assuming guitar gear would be identical. Right? I'm thinking of getting an attenuator for my guitar rig (never bought a "practice" rig, went straight for half stack) that would include a headphone out. But, I don't want to connect a cab AT ALL. That's safe on my SS Peavey Transtube Supreme, right? Just making sure, and thanks as always!

Some non-custom ones have different filters, too! I just bought Vater earplugs, with 2 filters. One's about -19dB, the other -21dB or so. They worked quite well, and were about $24. The others I looked at were called Ear Peace, they have 2 products. The HD line seems to be a bit better. I believe both of their lines offer different filter options for protection as well.

Bought my Vater plugs at GC, the sales woman tried to get me to buy these:

They were more expensive, didn't have a carrying case or other accessories I could find, AND didn't protect as much as the other options! Plus, you'd look dumb with little antennae coming out of your ears. (Unless, of course, you're doing some sort of alien stage persona. Then it might be just what you're looking for!)

Check your local Costco, if they have a hearing centre then they may do custom fit musician earplugs at a reasonable price. Mine does and they send the mold to Etymotic and also get the filters from there. Personally I found the -25db too much. The -15db is ok i think -20db would be the best for me but Etymotic doesn't offer that as far as I know.

i honestly think -15db should be fine for anyone, assuming the SPL in the room or stage is 100db or less, -15db gets to you 85db or less which is considered safe for extended periods. if your SPL is consistently above 100db then I'd go with the -25db. as I mentioned earlier -20db would be perfect for me as i like to be a bit on the safer side but I can't find any. if you see any let me know.

I run -30 dB, but that isn't needed for everyone.
