Interesting idea. Even with genuine Ric pups it would probably sound a bit different b/c of the bridge pup placement. I'm pretty happy with the tone as-is, though it needs to pass the "band mix test" still.

Honestly, the nicest part of it is probably the off white/cream binding, it looks great with that green. The photo doesn't really do it justice. The p/g looks cheap as fugg by comparison; if I were to "upgrade" anything it'd be to get a custom p/g to match the binding.

No Ric-O-Sound, btw.

Yeah, I think the pickup placement is a big part of the Rickenbacker sound. Relatively few other brands put their bridge pickup in the spot that they do.

New pickguard matching the binding would probably be a good upgrade.

i suppose i should clarify. I have no issue with bluesy 70's vibe bands. My issue is with bands that do it poorly and yet people seem to somehow not notice how bad it actually is. It just seems to be so trendy that people lose all objectivity when listening to these bands. Get an Orange amp, grow your hair, wear denim jackets and play a minor pentatonic riff with not too much distortion and somehow it makes the band instantly awesome. add a female singer for bonus cred.

just like any style there is good and bad, but people seem to have lost sight of that.

Same can be said about all the Electric Wizard clones...too much crap.

the S/D scene is getting too big for it's own good, like grunge in the late 90s. We have now entered the Seven Mary Three era of S/D.

Yeah. There are some bands that do the retro rock thing well. But a lot just don't and it ends up sounding like dad-rock.

I guess maybe we got into the S/D scene just a few years too late.

Killer! That's a much more expensive amp than my Peavey 120/120, but I scored it for only $220, because "nobody uses tubes anymore" according to Greg. Like... What? Oh well, his loss I guess.

Greg is so weird. He must know that isn't true. I could agree with the statement: "No one uses rackmount tube gear anymore."

That 120/120 was probably just sitting around at the shop for too long and he was glad to be rid of it.

VT, WF, HM2, and CF will be built, stocked, and sold over the next month or so. After that assuming all the art is finalized for the ODB, DA120OD, and the FT we will also release those in a similar fashion.

Even as broke as I am right now would have sold something to make up for the cash. There was a pristine one out here with an asking price of 1600. You sir are dubbed deal master of the month!
That Epi was almost purchased this weekend and I stopped. CAUSE I'M BROKE THIS MONTH! I couldn't even get Satori's Ibby Ric in the stable and I've wanted one forever.
No worries I have plenty to keep myself busy.

I'm eagerly waiting for the ODB to be able to compare it to the Demon. From there i will decide which one to keep. I just hope the canadian dollar gets stronger because at this rate the ODB is going to cost me $500.

Yeah, I saw the price, nearly shat myself, then made it happen. I couldn't not get it for price. I've been patiently waiting for years for the killer deal on a 300W tube head to fall into my lap and it did - and I had the cash in the bank to make it happen. Even my wife said that I couldn't not get it for that kind of money. If I hate it for some reason I can make bank flipping it. I don't think that'll happen though, I think/hope I found my forever amp.

The CF is killer. I've currently got a Wizard, Cthulhu, Volt Thrower, Modded HM-2 and Cthulhu Deluxe w/ blend and love all of them. I've been waiting on that ODB revision eagerly since the tourbox. I want to be in a band so bad, so I can use them LOUDLY.

Ouch, I feel your pain Sam. That's what it was like trying to by anything from EU up until the last couple years. Though still not quite that bad, sucks.

I love rackmount gear - for some reason it's oddly satisfying to me to see a piece of gear safely tucked inside a rack, I don't know why, I just like it. Gigantic 4RU tube amps are especially awesome.

Which reminds me, I'm going to have to get a 4RU rack for the new amp. Biggest one I have is 3 space. Maybe I can trade that one and my shallow 3 space one for a 4. Hmm...

I'd rather not spend over $100 on a case.

Tube heads: Orange AD200 & Hovercraft Dwarvenaut.

SS heads: Peavey F800 & Vulcan.

All sound great but different. Been using the Vulcan the most lately b/c I think it has the most powerful EQ of all of them (in the "clear" channel).

And this is why I despise the rackmount format. Because you have to already own/buy/build a whole other piece of gear just to run the amp you bought.

I feel that it's a way for companies that offer both gear and racks for the gear, but don't include the rack with the sale of the gear that goes in it, to jack up the price while spending the same amount of money on making the stuff. To me it's like selling something incomplete. Sure, rackmount gear can be used without the rack, and I did so for the first few weeks with my D-180, but it is super annoying.

Hmmm... I suppose the Orange and the Hovercraft are technically rackmount. They at least come with their cases, though, and I hardly ever see them outside their stock cases. Hence why I didn't think of them.

Run it at all 6s.

If I had to lay down a basic straight in bass track it would be with the clear channel on the Vulcan. Just plain jane good ol tone for anything from pop to rock to motown and anything in between. It is my forever head.

I mean, I can see its uses... but I don't have any rackmount gear besides my amp. Nor am I really interested in getting any. My effects and tuner are on my pedalboard, and I don't use a separate pre/power rig. I store my cables and things either in the pedalboard case or in my backpack, so I don't need a drawer.

So for me, rackmount gear means an extra expense that I'd rather avoid, and at the additional cost of aesthetics. I don't mind if rackmount versions of things are offered, but it annoys me when something is only available in rackmount format.

If I can ever afford to get a new amp, which would possibly be a custom Dunwich, it'll be in the regular head shell format.
