The coating always felt odd to me. Undeniably quality strings, just didn't really get on with them. Tried 'em on guitars and basses. YMMV...
I had some on a telecaster I got used and they sounded new, I can't complain about feel. Idk if they died, but I got new pickups and put the orange pack of 10-52's I Always use on guitar (save this baritone).
Monterey is a beautiful area, but I'm staying put, unless he finds me a 60k+ job out there... California ain't cheap.

Oh man! So as you guys can imagine, April 20th is a big deal in Denver. Mega huge tourism and a legit cannabis cup competition. Still Valley gets to play the pre cup kickoff at 3 Kings on 4/17. If anyone comes out for the festivities, there's a bad ass show to start it off right. Us with some Denver heavies. Going to be good! Also, booked a gig for a 6 band blast in two weeks at the DIY spot. Flyering shows until then. And then a giant 2 day fest in the Springs that would rival thee most popular of fests, as far as who's playing. Yes, lots of locals. But we have tons of good bands here. Several from Denver are actually on Relapse. And a few others are on a local label, Sailor Records. Anyways, just excited that poopie has been blowing up lately. We need to finish writing the new ones we got. Only one new has made it to rotation thus far and I'm ready to get it poppin!
I have been being micro managed at work a bit so I haven't had much time tompostnon TB. Don't really want stoner on my work browser history, so I'm more on FB in the day. Glad to keep reading about everyone happenings. Corey man, I don't know. It took a few years to get Still Valley together, but you have just haven't had good luck. Sucks man. You write really good riffs. Really good. I'm not just blowing smoke here. People in your area just suck.

D'Addario pro steels. Also loosen you strings and snap them against the fret board 20-30 times. Knocks the sh!t out of them and makes them sound fresher.
Not really a fan of D'Addario anything, other than chromes SOMETIMES. But +5 to the restring procedure. I always do this. It also breaks them in so that tuning lines up perfectly and stays there from the start. I usually pop it from the 12th fret when I do this.
I finished a pedal build tonight. Grindcustomfx Ultrastoner mk2. I built it to ultrastoner BoM and I have to say this muff ****ing rips. Lots of low end and the shape knob really allows the sound to be adjusted for just the right mid cut. The doom switch rules and definitely lives up to its name. I haven't quite figured the grunt switch out though. Not sure if it is diode selection or what. Positions 1 and 3 sound almost identical but the center position louder and more aggressive. I am definitely considering a few more of these pcbs to build a selection of exotic muffs. Also thinking of building on and socketing everything so that I can experiment with different muff flavors and tweaks.
A question I have considered but not found the answer to, what the **** is a FAC control. I see it in a lot of Dunwich stuff and some pedals by a few others. What does it do exactly?
The ProSteels just lasted forever for me. I have not played a set in over a year at this point though.
I've been on a Kalium kick. Put my TIs in the drawer until I replace the bridge on my fury. Kalium just have a consistency and mildness (while still holding a brightness for a long time) that I find really agreeable. Haven't found those qualities in other strings. I don't like em to bright anymore, but I hate totally dead rounds. I am also strongly opposed to nickels. They make my hands stink something fierce and always sound meh to me.
I won't buy/recommend circleK or Kalium strings. Bad experience with them and their product. Too expensive for me. (It is cheaper to import dingwall steings from Canada)
Actually after two years I finally did get a response from them. I told them what was wrong with the strings, and how I had contacted them. Got a brush off response. If anything it soured me more to them.
FAC control is kind of like a passive high pass filter.
It changes how much lower bass gets rolled off in the circuit. IIRC it's a very general slope though.

What Julian was referring to though, is a few weeks/months/years after restringing your bass. Once a the strings seem dead, snap them hard a lot and they come back to life some.
Good for bad tone days, as I think at least in my experience, I don't notice they are dead as it's gradual, then things just seem off. Spank the strings some, try again.

So my friend has this music fest he made, that's today and tomorrow. He asked me last night to run the sound. Is that hard, I've never run live sound before.
Any advice/proper steps/plan of action?

I started recording the demos for the Dunwich DA120OD last night. Going to keep working on them through the weekend, should have some clips posted by Monday at the latest I hope.
There seems to be this misconception that running live sound is this easy thing that anyone can do. There's a lot to it.
I suppose it depends on what all will be going through the PA - if it's just vocals, then that's easy. Vocals and kick - still somewhat easy. Anything beyond that and things get complex quickly. I would say yes, IF - (big if) there's someone there that can at least give you a 10 minute rundown of what to do, and knows how all of the equipment operates.
