Haha, wow. Was just talking to one of my co-workers about tonight's show with my two former bandmates. He said that he left a band a while back, then went to see them play and rather than getting a new bass player they just played pre-recorded tracks of him playing bass and played along to those live. Kind of surreal watching a band, hearing yourself play bass while you're standing in the audience.
ATK still (back) in production as far as I know. At least there are lots floating around, you can get a new 205 for $350, and probably better if you dig around or go used.
Also check out the G&L L1505 for an alternative.

The 205 is killer - I have one, big fan. That dark stain natural finish on the one linked above looks awesome, too. Perfer that to my natural finish.

considering making the switch to elixirs, does anyone use em? all reviews say they sound like fresh news strings for a really long time.
You all did this to me by not moving to California and starting a band with me! Someone hurry up and switch to drums already.
Also I just want to let you guys know that the Volt Thrower is the boobies. Especially on guitar. It sounds great on bass. But it makes the guitar just sound absolutely disgusting, I love it.
