Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Another off topic dealio...who here rents their home as opposed to buying/owns their home?
I'm 46. Never owned a home. We are tired of moving, though we know we have another couple of moves to go before we can settle permanently.
It's kind of a pisser because I think if we could get a loan, seems like we'd be paying less on a mortgage payment even with prop tax and insurance factored in than we are paying in rent. And we'd have something of our own and some equity.
On the other hand, we like the freedom of being able to give a little notice, find a new place and move if we want. I like the convenience and financial ease of--should something go wrong--you call the landlord and THEY pay to have it fixed.
I really go back and forth. We'd have to pay down some debt before we could get a home loan probably, and we are really not sure about buying a home where we're at now because a few years down the road we may be free to move elsewhere and I don't want to be saddled with a house we have to sell.
But someday in the future...I think it would be nice. Then I hear my old man talking about how they had an electrical issue, and they had to have part of their roof replaced, etc. to the tune of thousands of dollars...I just don't know. I see the drawbacks and benefits of both.
Maybe my wife and I should just wait until the kids are out of the house and buy an RV...

i don't have a whole hell of a lot of time to watch full movies nowadays
I usually just watch them on fast forward and provide my own dialogue.
I rent, looking to buy in the next year or two.. I don't have pets, but if I settled down I want a place they can stay without deposits. Also I want to do crazy stuff in regards to landscaping/zeroscaping and interior design to my house that would make a landlord have a stroke.
Long term goal of buying/renting properties. Also if it was feasible/profitable get my own real estate liscense. Time will tell if that will occur, also if I go commercial or residential. A lot of people we talk to at my internship juggle the investment banking/real estate mix and seem to do pretty well.

the new gf in joshua tree has goats, hens, cats, dogs, and a gardener snake named henry that lives under the hot tub, expect a lot of gangsta pics of me with the dobermans and a lot of metal picks of me with the goats
Someday I think I need to coat a bass drum in rabbit fur and put deer antlers in the tom rack. Mythical tone of the jackalope.

There's nothing mythical about jackalope tone. It's the most brutals.
I have been to every major city in Texas when I traveled with Marching Mizzou. I love San Antonio and Houston. I have some very fond but minimal memories from El Paso but will not ever be returning to that ****hole. Apparently gangs of mexicans like to try and run down gingers with their vehicles. On the other hand, I met a Mexican while walking around the hotel who offered me a blunt. After reluctantly accepting, he handed me like 37 grams of weed and invited me to a hotel party the next night. I took the chunk and left El Paso the next day. It was bizarre and awesome at the time.
Generally I only dislike the "Texas attitude". Normal people from Texas are cool though. I love the south.

...aaaaaaaand our drummer is gone. He cancelled the practice again today and we talked about his absences. He said that he won't mind if we get a replacement and he understands that he is pissing us off.
Probably gonna take April off and just practice with guitarist on our practice amps and drum machine. We've got another drummer buddy coming, but he can start from May.

Not a remake or a sequel, it is like a copy-cat killer thing. I still need to see the original. It was actually kind of scary, make you jump a bit, though we did go green for the flick. It was cool they way it was in modern times but they used some film techniques and clothing to make it look like the 70's which was strange and cool at the same time when the gal grabbed out her laptop.
I kind of lost one of my good friends to his new formed Texas Attitude. I was in the Guard and went to Basic Training with him, then he went full-time Army and was stationed in Fort Hood. He had bad ADD and drank to counter it, so he was a great guy but a handful at the same time. I traveled to see him while stationed in Georgia too and he would come down to visit me in Florida so we were pretty damn tight. When I moved back to PA the old gang got together while he was on leave and went to a sort of smaller than a club but bigger than an old man bar and when he finished his drank he slammed his bottle on the bar like I need another. All of us buddies chewed him out to no end, I almost slapped him from his utter rudeness to the bartender and other people at the bar. He said but that is what we have to do in Texas to get a drink at the clubs, well go back to Texas then arsehole, you grew up here and know the rules of life and this ain't no club. Never spoke to him since that night. I know not all Texans are like that but it brought back that memory.

Well yesterday was a bit unlucky, not only did cheeseland have a bad sportzball day, I also had a bad GAS day, bad as in I didnt get what I wanted...I went to MGR to pick up a Mark III head and a standard size silver stripe 412 and the head sold earlier that day. Walked out with only the 412. It may not be a tuxedo but I wanted the Mark III so I can move to running only one head for VEGA since none of my Tuxedo heads run 2 ohms. And to be honest expecting late 60s-early 70s heads to be reliable, even if they are PVY, is malarkey...so the Mark 3 would become the work horse and the tuxedos would be more of a collection. Well I did get the 412 for pretty damn cheap though...
Another Mk III should show up soonish. I'm still kinda kicking myself for passing on a Musician head and silver stripe 412 last year, I got greedy trying to bid it down too far and missed out.
I am half and half on it. My house is cheaper then rent but I am like you and don't really like growing roots and now I feel really trapped by owning a house since my job is wishy washy and we keep getting lower pay with the lack of raises and increasing yearly health insurance rates. I live so rural that if I lost this job I would be SOL to find another. Plus as much as I love how safe and friendly it is here there is no music scene unless you drive an hour and it still isn't too great there. RV LOL, my ol lady gets so mad when I look at people living in RVs and looking for them on Craigslist. She says, we aren't going to live in a van Joe, because you get bored of things and love watching travel shows.
