Forgive my ignorance, but why wouldn't a 4X10 PA cab work? Is it somehow designed to not handle lower freqs or something? Or is it that your head doesn't agree with it?

Forgive my ignorance, but why wouldn't a 4X10 PA cab work? Is it somehow designed to not handle lower freqs or something? Or is it that your head doesn't agree with it?
Pretty much a parallel to me. I told the stepson at the beginning of the month he has 30 days to go. I need some real income from the place to keep it. I'll give up my master with bath to keep their business out of my business till the market recovers some more. I give it another 10 years until the girl is out of high school. In the mean time some sweat equity and hope I can keep my crap together that long.
Ya know, I appreciate the discussion of home ownership...it's an odd place to have such a discussion, but whatever...
It hasn't solidified my desire to own really. Maybe someday in the right circumstances...right place, right kind of income, etc.
The biggest block for me is the idea of staying put. In my entire life I've never lived in one house for more than 3 or 4 years and very often I was moving to an entirely new state every 3-4 years.
The concept of a "permanent home place" is pretty foreign to me and I don't know if I'll ever get the hang of that. I feel like once I got "settled" and saddled with a house/property, some opportunity would arise or I'd get a wild hair to move again, but then I'd be SOL...
I still see the benefits of owning. Just not sure if it's for me. Maybe if I ever get to retire...

They are these old vertical cabs. They can handle my baritone no issue.i just know they are from a time where you mic'd vocals, maybe guitar. I'd hate to blow them and have to fork out for 8 speakers when I only paid $40-$80 for the pair.
It gets drafty I'll be honest.
But I needed a carbI do raise treble and mids Max, hell and cut the bass considerably sometimes. I have a headphone amp but it's meh.
I should also mention this is me trying to play in the living room in front of the TV so it's getting dangerously close to first world problems that don't need to be solved. As I could go in the other room and stack up with my dually.

I wouldnt worry to much if your only using them for low volume practice...

That's the 300 series, mines the 400. I think it's older and is the "tuxedo" face style Nax refers to. I almost got one from a friend of a friend then his dad said $300 and I walked on that "deal".

As for the house issues: Provided I'm on the other side of the world from the majority of you guys, it's the same shvt here. I've been renting for 10 years and have my own apartment for 2 years now. The difference is stellar.

Oh yeah. Homeowner here. Bought about 8 years ago. Market destroyed all equity and we were upside down. Getting caught back up. Stupid bubble. We want to get out of the burbs, but land is either cheap and far away from town, or out of price range.

If it's a SS head, get a Rolls PM52 and use headphones. I just did this for my guitar rig. Basically, it's designed to take a speaker level signal and turn it into a headphone signal. Can also be used as a quick monitor. But it's gotta be a SS head. Works on bass and guitar.
