Gnargh! That sucks, man. I am pissed off as well, on your behalf. I hate crap like this. Life should be easy and fun; not a pain in the ass.

Using the low four from a Dunlop 120 5-string set. Cheap and decent. Go nickel if you don't want too bright. Tension is nice for me.

Apparently these aren't actually isolated as it still relies on a wall wart, but what problems would that potentially cause me in my old house or where ever I go?

I have the voodoo labs one, but I need a second one for the other board, and don't feel like spending voodoo prices. I lucked out and got mine for $40 off a guy and never see them at that price.

You might get some hum and noise - but nothing dangerous will happen. They're not truly isolated because each power outlet on the box shares a common ground rather than having separate transformer taps for each one. Not a huge deal, it's why this thing is so much cheaper than other models - but you might get some noise. It's probably no worse than using a daisy-chained one spot.

Guess I'll order one once I figure out what to do about boards. I need two boards. Cheap as possible but protective as possible. Especially the Danos with their weak ass jacks and knobs. The dano board gets a cathedral too. The other bit is the stereo setup.

So any recomendations? Rondo boards seem decent and protective. But I want the cheapest best option.

Old suitcases work. Add foam padding and secure pedals to piece of wood.
